    Thanks for the videos.
He just tells people (whether Costa or X or anyone else) where to wait for him while he signs autographs. Nothing that I find unusual: they're not gonna just stand in front of the crowd waiting for him to be done. It would be awkward.
No the one thing that always strikes me is that I find his way toward her a little cold, don't get me wrong, very considerate and gentle but somewhat distant and dismissive at the same time. I could be projecting though or it could just be his usual manner, I don't know if anyone else feels the same about the way they interact.
Meg good luck with everything, there's always a huge need for math teachers!

Because if she was needy, they would have broken up a long time ago. When he wins, she is never thanked, not even after 4 years. If his reason was that he wants to protect her, that's a big fail. He's usually not at home, and she rarely travels with him. Even when he's in Mallorca, they are not together all the time. She has to be comfy with all the attention he gets, the attention he has to give his fans and his game. A lot of times, their time together is invaded by rafa fans. A needy girl would have left a long time ago.

The university may not be very far geographically speaking but depending on its reputation and size, people may go there from all over the country. Also the number of places where Rafa is not gonna be treated as a major attraction is shrinking fast. Formentera is close and look how he's mobbed on that beach!
Meg you make a lot of sense. The least one can say is that X is not the priority in Rafa's life right now, at least everything he says and does points in that direction. She's either not needy or very hooked. I've seen women accept incredible treatments from men out of fear of losing them, lack of self-esteem or just amorous feelings clouding their judgement.

Just read about that as well, sucks for them. They fought really hard to get into Europe and was beat out of the spot for the Champions League in the last moments of the last game of the season.

They can appeal it hope that works out.

Like when he makes statements like "She knows her place" or "we both decide if she travels but I prefer my friends to be there.."?
Some Spanish men are chauvinist...maybe he is a little bit that:confused:
You guys asked what I do i'm hoping to be a character designer, or maybe screenwriter...not sure yet.

Rafa-Xisca relationship reminds me of a couple I went to HS with. The guy was okay looking, nothing special, and the chick was a really hottie. But he treated her like crap, and continues to do so, but she like LOVES him, and it just doesn't bother her, they've been together 6-7 years now. I don't get it, but somehow they work. I mean that's an extreme, but every girl has different expectation for men, and what doesn't make sense to me makes perfect sense to her. So maybe sometimes she doesn't like it, but no one is forcing her to stay with him. So overall it seems she's on the happier side.

    character designer/screen writer sounds good!

I don't think Rafa would get into something like this. I mean this newspaper is going around dropping names. Doesn't mean it's true. If Rafa does it would be rather dumb of him. That being said, the first poster makes absolutely no sense. I wish people would take the time to actually think before they write.

There is no way in hell that Rafa is going to sail to Gaza. Making such a bold political statement would be suicide for his career, and he would also run the risk of being detained in Israel.

Agree, plus it's in september, that's during the USO and after that it seems he's playing in thailand.

    Rafa's FB update

Rafael Nadal MaƱana viernes retomo los entrenamientos. Se acabaron las vacaciones!!! Estuve en Ibiza y Formentera ademas de Mallorca, claro. Donde ir si no? :)
Tomorrow, Friday, I will resume my practice. Holidays are over!. I have been in Ibiza and Formentera (and off course Majorca), where else, huhh? :)

Edit: I didn't get the "where else, huhh?" part. I think if he had stuck to his regular "no" instead of "huh" would have made more sense. In anycase google translate tells me, it's "Where to go if not?". Maybe he means, "where else would I go?"

Actually, I don't think it's the first time Rafa has somewhat touched on the subject (even more controversial than religion that one!)
He tries to be discreet about everything contentious (like bull fighting) but he also doesn't lie to hide his views and especially lately he has opened up more maybe because he's more confident with his ideas. (so much for the people who claim he's fake and media controlled!)
I find it intolerable and beyond obnoxious that people are trying to shut him up or bash him for his opinions. He's entitled to have them, express them or share them without some fanatics lashing out at him. One can respectfully disagree and move on but they have to accept that he has a right to his views, take it or leave it.

I actually do believe he said that about what hap in Gaza being wrong etc. I still don't think he should get on that ship. Not because I agree or disagree with him views, but just because the media is looking for things to sensationalize. I never thought that Woods' affairs would affect his career so greatly. I mean big freaking deal he was a man wh0re. But it seems these kind of things can really come back and bite you in the ass.

    Totally missed that! Thanks!

  18. You see who Roddick had to beat at USO to win it? Nalbandian was his hardest opponent and he barely beat him, after going down 2 sets to love. Nalbandian was good, but he's amazing especially in 03 he wasn't amazing

I'm not on VB. And you're one to talk about where one should post things. You create an entire thread to post a random clip that you can post here :-?
Besides haven't you posted about Shakira before too? :-?

It's not a random clip. It's Nadal volleying and playing more aggressive than usual. That's interesting, at least for me...

Too much gossip in this thread.

ONE RACKET TO PLAY, ANOTHER TO

World No.1, Rafa Nadal can be seen in this picture signing one of his personal raquets. Do you want to know where he is sending it to? Check back in a few days at rafaelnadal.com and we will tell you all about it.

I don't know if you know it, but there is a subforum called "Odds and Ends" (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21), where you can find threads like "Roger Federer's feet" (Fed's fans are so obsessed ), "Guys only: best legs..." I would say that a "Rafa private" thread could find its place there too. The concentration of gossip during the off-season is not what some people (me, for example) expect here.

Not a bad idea. At least then there would be hopefully fewer people pooh-poohing and looking down their noses at "frivolous gossip". I personally don't see the big deal.

Well, in all fairness, the thread's name is Nadal News. Right now he's not up to anything tennis related. But what he's been upto is also Nadal news. When there are no matches going on, obviously all Nadal news will not be tennis related. Might seem like a cheap excuse, but women get carried away at times :D. But if all the interlaced gossip bothers you then the last couple of days can be summarized as follows:

~Nadal is taking a 2 week break after Wimby.
~Nadal went to the WC in South Africa where he provided his home team with support and then partied and celebrated after.
~About a week later Nadal was spotted playing golf at a benifit tournament to help raise money for ADAA (non-profit association to aid the people with health problems of the Balearic Islands).
~He also purchased a share in Real Mallorca, however, they are still not being allowed to play, (this was found out yesterday)
~In an interview taken after wimbledon Rafa was asked a question about religion, where his answer caused a stir. It was discovered though that Toni himself in the past has made bold statements about his view on religion.
~Nadal recently purchased a place in Ibiza where he was found relaxing and taking pictures with several fans on the beach.
~He also took time to go golfing in his personal time, with his gf. In addition he spent a good amount of times with just his guy friends as well.
~His gf finally graduated and Nadal wasn't present.
~There was talk that Rafa might sail on the freedom flotilla to protest the events that to place in Gaza strip.
~As of today he is back at practice
All of this supplemented with photos :)

All of this is valid nadal news. ;)

She went to Ibiza. Tons of celebrities go to Ibiza every summer. It's the capital of the world for partying! But yeah, she probably said "hi" to Rafa since he was in Ibiza too.

That sounds wicked, I'm terribly envious! :)

My permanent address is in the UK but thanks to my job, I've "lived" in 3 different countries in the last year, 3 month rotation each time. I've got another two to go and then I'll be done, able to plant roots once again. Can't wait! :)

That's kinda kool actually! But I guess it's fine temporarily, but can keep moving around your whole life! Where do you want to "plant roots" after it's all over?

kind if a cute picture edit of Rafa!

EDIt: I just found the "I hate Rafael Nadal" page on fb. I must say people really need to get a life. People have said such seriously hateful things about him, it's so ridiculous! It's as if he personally hurt them. If you criticize his tennis or even mannerisms, whatever, but people wanted him to burn or die!! I'm like what??? That is NOT normal. lol.
