It's one of those crazy times that come only few times a year when Clarky21 was randomly correct. It's like someone getting hit by lightening. It happens.

    Off topic:
I'm not a Sharapova fan either, and I'm trying to give Vika the benefit of the doubt. But, I still can't help feeling sorry for Maria.

Maybe it's me, but Rafa just came back and this was his first tournament. He played a lot better than I expected him to. He's usually really rusty, but we can't expect him to come back and be right back in the groove. The Top 4 are levels above the other tour players and if he had beat an in-form Federer with rust still on him, it would have devalued the rivalry, imo.

I have a lot of respect for Sharapova coming back from such a serious shoulder injury. I don't really dislike Azarenka but I was really hoping Maria would win today after that beatdown in Australia. Unfortunately she just doesn't have the movement or any sort of variety to match it with Vika these days.

Back on topic: Yay for Rafa and Marc winning doubles. From all reports they've been great all week. Nice to end IW on a positive note.

Great picture of Rafa in the middle of a serve and it shows how still he keeps his head while all the other parts of his body are moving.

So happy for Marc and Rafa and their doubles win. Managed to catch most of the second set on a pirate stream and Rafa and Marc play so well together. Marc was especially impressive. He's fast as a jackrabbit and even though the other teams always pick on him, he holds up his end of the partnership very well. Rafa's so good at the net it's a shame he's not confident enough to do it more often in his singles. Now on to Miami. Vamos Rafa!!!

    What a great picture :)

It was quite a dissapointing match to watch... as others have said Rafa somehow didn't quite seem into it for much of it. He was good at the end though. Hope it was just rust.

You know what they say: even a broken clock is right twice a day. Since no player is gonna spend an entire season without losing a match, if you predict a loss every single time they play, you can be sure at some point, you're gonna be right. I don't think that makes you an intelligent person though  (same way the broken clock is not that functional on the whole :))

I was delighted to see Rafa win the IW doubles for the second time! That's what he did in 2010 and look at what the rest of his season was like

Rafa and Marc make an amazing team, they beat excellent doubles specialists too. I don't understand why Rafa doesn't play doubles EXCLUSIVELY with Marc. He is 10 times more efficient paired with him than with anyone else. Granollers? Nah. He should stick with Marc, they complement each other perfectly for doubles and they have won 4 hard court titles together (the last 4 Rafa has won). They want to go with someone else for Olympics? HUGE mistake in my humble opinion.

Since he can't seem to win singles titles,I guess as long as he pairs up with Marc Lopez(who singlehandedly won their doubles final for them, btw)he has a future career in doubles. And 2010 is history, and he will never repeat it no matter how badly you want him to.

Isn't he great? He's so quick and has such wonderful hands. It's so much fun to watch him play. Rafa has always said that if only Marc had more confidence he could have a much better singles record.
I agree. I would love to see Rafa and Marc play doubles in the Olympics and they'd certainly have a good shot at the gold medal. Qualification gets a little tricky though as Spain has so many good tennis players that qualify based on their rankings. Marc has moved up to #23 in the doubles rankings with this win and if he can have a couple more good results, he might be up high enough to make the decision tough for the Spanish Olympic committee. Here's a good article on the qualification rules. http://talkingballs-tennis.blogspot.ca/2012/03/guide-to-olympics-qualification.html

Hopefully this coming weekend we will have a Djokovic Nadal final. I like Nadal's chances of beating Tsonga/Isner and Murray. Hopefully Djokovic can destroy Fed. DjokFed haven't met this year, so its hard to predict.
Either way, Nadal has something to look forward to, either increasing the h2h lead over Djokovic to 17-14, or increasing the h2h lead over Federer to 19-10, and of course the chance to win his 20th Masters Shield. It will be a MOMENTOUS occasion.

Rafa's in Miami and back at work already. I like how he's accessorized to match the signage around the court. Now, if he just had purple shoes, he'd be a fashion maven. :)

Good grief. It's just a practice t-shirt. He often wears two or three different ones in a practice. It's pretty pathetic when people have to start griping and complaining about something so trivial. What a sad and unhappy life you must have Clarky to be so constantly mean spirited.

Let's have a good Miami Rafito, you only have this year and maybe next year for your best chances at finally getting this thing done.

My Lord, will you grow up. All I said was I don't like that shade of green and you take it as if I insulted his mother or something. I don't like the color. That dark shade of green is hideous. Shall I apologize for that since you seem to take it so personally?

I wouldn't count on it. Miami is cursed for him and he will likely never win it. And if the reports are true about it playing faster this year then it definitely ain't happening.

Why not? You are aren't you?

And the fact that you are agreeing with the likes of Dudeski tells me everything I need to know about how you think. Also,a Fed hater like you might not like it so much to know that Dudeski is a huge ******* who dislikes Nadal with a passion. Funny how you keep agreeing with him though, huh?

Yeah, sincere in the purest form of Fed hate going on this board maybe, but that's about it. Lol.

I really cannot believe that you and Vernonbc are jumping on my back over saying I don't like that dark forest shade of green. It's such an overreaction to something so meaningless that all I can do is shake my head.

Didn't you say the same thing about IW? I just don't think he's playing well enough, and when that is added in with the conditions not favoring him I think it would take a miracle for him to make the final.

Miami doesn't favor his topspin oriented game at all. The conditions are heavy and prevent his shots from kicking up like they should. There is a reason he has never won it,and most likely never will. He sucks there and I have very low expectations for this tournament, and would not be surprised if he lost early.

Yeah,it does. And now that I see it close up it's even uglier than I thought. Those blue pit stain circles are hideous. Nadal's gear has been lacking severely lately. I haven't really liked any of his outfits since the USO 2010 black night outfit.

It was a pleasant surprise to see him get smoked in straight sets by Fed, of all people? And was he, or was he not, correct in saying you predicted great things for Nadal at IW.

Wow,he looks awful in that practice video. He can barely even find the court with any of his shots. He's not making the quarters with that kind of garbage tennis, and I feel an early loss is imminent just like what happened last year at Rogers Cup.

I know my views aren't popular with the hardcore *******s on here, but at least I'm honest about how bad he is playing these days instead of insisting he is going to win 20 slams like some others on here who shall remain nameless.

And he did look awful in that practice video. Horrible in fact.
