The only difference with the situation I described would be the travelling... which a lot of people would be quite happy with. So what if they give them a (probably) paper job (if that makes sense in English, lol)?, maybe it's more comfortably for both than just giving them money. And maybe they actually do work in the foundation, what do we know...
Anyway, I see no problem with it.

It is a matter of opinion, an opinion one would think fans of a player to have about him... I guess you're a special case ;)

I understand it if he feels upset at them, but it sounds like he's given it some thought and is polite enough.

Though in more general terms I don't think you can justify whatever you're doing "because it's just your job", I really don't think so.

I haven't seen that interview of him not including sex in his perfect day... It sure doesn't sound like what the typical 19 year old would say.

Nadal is good, but brilliant? He's too defensive to be brilliant at tennis, imo. Unless you think chasing a ball back and forth is brilliant.

I hope so. It doesn't put him in a good light to treat these people like dirt beneath him just because they are trying to earn a living. Afterall, he thought it was klassy to pose nearly naked for Armani, and roll around in the dirt with Shakira for a music video. Things he didn't need to do in order to keep a roof over his head unlike what these poor saps have to do to make some money.

Well, someone has got to do it. How else are they going to collect the sample?

    I call that brilliant.

since Nadal thinks the testing procedure is too intrusive (without going into whether he's right about it or not), he would probably think the testers are doing something that isn't quite right.
But I meant it more generally. Like, I'm working making phone surveys, and there's this survey from a meat company. I would certainly not think it's just fine for me to do that survey because "it's just a job"...

That was a good passing shot, but Nadal is still not brilliant at tennis to me. Again he is far too defensive.

Tough. Does he think these people want to wake up that early and go and stare at his junk while he pees? He should treat them like he would want to be treated, and not like crap. He chose to be a pro tennis player which he means he has to complete the testing. Don't like it then find another profession.

Then you're going to wind up jobless, and while not necessarily in your case, could mean homelessness as well.

I definitely understand your point. In my opinion, it's not the way I'd like to live my life and it's hard for me to respect women who do. If I were them, I would feel as if I was being patronized by my guy. "Oh, I suppose you can do a little work for my foundation to earn your keep." I highly doubt that's what the guys are actually thinking, but all in all, it's just not my thing. I respect your opinion though. :)

I somehow think we just discussed all that.
And it appears he treats them just fine.

I might end up out of this job, which I wouldn't particularly mind.
In Spain though with their economical situation that could mean ending up homeless.

Here is the interview Crisstti, apparently it's from 2007 :-?

    http://www.nadalnews.com/2009/07/01/rafael-king-of-the-jungle/

I'm sure he treats them in a civil manner, especially if he is offering them coffee. These are just wild assumptions you are making.

Well, they are not really assumptions if you go off of his previous comments. Before he pretty much said he treated them like crap, but for some reason he has decided to do a total turn around from the way he treated them before.

His previous comments hardly suggest he treats them life crap, just that he didn't talk them. From the way you phrase it, you'd think he was spewing abuse at them or something lol. Just because he does't make chitchat and act super chirpy doesn't suggest he isn't civil to these people.

I could have sworn that interview was older than that. I must be slipping I guess. Lol.

I just think he shouldn't take his anger at the testing out on the pee-ons sent to administer the drug tests. That's not fair to them, so he needs to keep his bad attitude toward the testing to himself and be civil to these people.

Would it be too much to suggest that you keep your Nadal bashing to yourself or at least restrict it to the numerous threads that appear on this board for that purpose.

Many of your gripes seem to be the product of your imagination and obvious dislike rather than based on facts. I would have thought that this thread would have been the one which would have been free from Nadal bashing, but it seems that, in you we have a commited campaigner.

Thanks for positing the interview Rocky :)

I'm sure he's civil to them, and if he's upset at them I understand it perfectly for that matter.

Cannot find the earlier interview where he said he didn't talk to them.

    ----

Not sure what is bothering you Tushar..

    Here's some news though :)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jVWyhmbZmU&feature=plcp

There's some subtitles in Spanish but I've got no time right now to translate it...

Basically they say he's medically pretty much recovered, are upping the intensity of the training, hope to train normally next week, and hope to be in Abu Dhabi but only if they're in the right conditions.

Maybe, but I take everything Nadal says with a boulder sized grain of salt.

Did you hear about how badly he flopped playing Poker online the other day? It was woeful from what I read.

He actually has to play poker?! I thought they were just using his face to advertise it. I bet Rafa just had a member of his family do it for him... then again who knows I guess...

WHat is it that makes you take everything Nadal says with such a large grain of salt, if I may ask?. I'm not saying you'd have to just believe everything, but any particular reason?.

Nope, I didn't hear about it. Maybe he just needs more practice. Who knows if he had ever played before this Poker Stars thing.

Lol, I guess he could have, who would know?.

Yes he plays poker, and he enjoys it. Here's a good article about his latest promotion with them which has a bunch of fun pictures and a great video showing him playing tennis and poker with all the lucky winners.

What else does he like to do in his spare time? What kind of soap does he use, what color underwear is he wearing today, how many times a day does he use the lavatory, etc. etc. I bet you know or think you know. I think Nadal needs a restraining order from you. ;) :)

I think it's because he can't seem to hold to one story and neither can his team. The people around him are liars, and seem to waffle back and forth too much. He also whines too much and comes across as immature. I trust his word like I would the word of a child. I also think that over the years he and team have proven to be dishonest. It's quite a shame that they have all turned out this way since it didn't used to be this way with them.

No, what he needs to do is get out of this silly racket. I knew this PokerStars deal was going to go down in flames when I heard about it. Nadal doesn't seem all that bright so trying to teach him to play poker with pro poker player's who have been playing for years was only going to end in disaster. PokerStars should have sponsored someone who has a clue about what they're selling and not a jock who is totally clueless.

I did not lose any argument, you lost it, and badly too. I pulled up tons of your posts where you belittled Federer after you said you never did.

If you would post things that were normal and not so obsessive I would give you a break but you have to be the biggest obsessive Nadal fan on here it is beyond belief.

    Tons??? You found one.

And obsessive? Obsessive is someone who has 7900 posts in just over a year, virtually all negative and dumb. I don't mind being called Nadal's biggest fan though. He's a fine young man and a terrific tennis player who is well worthy of my admiration.

I believe you have perfected the art of bootlicking. And you don't know Nadal so how do you know he is a "fine young man"? He could be a horrible rotten person in private for all you know.

And I think there are better choices out there for people worthy of your admiration than a jock tennis player. How about admiring someone who has actually done some good in this world instead of a dude who swings a racket all day? Seems like your priorties and perspective are totally off base.

And as long as I am allowed by the mods I will post here. I don't care if you like it or not. Pick on my post count if you must, but at least I have some pride unlike you, the ultimate Nadal a** kisser.

If you can make a call on Nadal without knowing him, Vernonbc can as well.

I don't think anyone here is saying that they admire everything about Nadal, but he is a great tennis player and isn't a complete a** IMO.

As for the poker thing, it actually went well. He wasn't trying to or supposed to win, a chance to hit with him was offered as a prize for other people who won. Here's an article about it, the author speaks pretty highly of Nadal: http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/rafa_...-big-hit-with-pok-124850.html?source=11441987

Because this is the Nadal News thread and there's been no Nadal news for a couple of pages .

You don't know that, or do you know him personally?

That's not what I read. They were actually making fun of him it went so badly.

News is hard to come by for a dude who hasn't played in 6 months. There hasn't even been any new practice pictures or videos in a long time. If you can actually find some worthwhile news about Nadal that doesn't include PokerStars, or some other junk he's trying to shill, then by all means post it.

    Precisely.

About the poker thing, that was with the winners of that "Rafa Nadal's Dream Day" thing, so he didn't play online if I'm right. And it appears he ended fourth of seven players. Pretty good actually, I wonder if being fans of his they went easy on him, lol.

Thanks for the link btw. I thought he was going to play with just one guy.

You don't know him wither, and you make comments about his character, intelligence, etc., all the time. So I think the rest of us are allowed too, aren't we?.

For that matter, I think it's just fine to do so. We don't know these people personally, but that doesn't mean you don't know anything about them. Just as one example, we can call Tipsarevic a douchbag based on what we know about him (I know you have which is why I use this as an example).

Uhm, I posted a video just one or two days ago. I guess you didn't watch it, since you didn't comment on how jaded he looked. I wonder how long it will take him to regain his fitness.

Any examples?, all that comes to my mind is the "tendons are just fine" comments a while ago. And I think they can say what they want about that kind of thing. What else, his girlfriend?.

I don't think he comes off as immature at all actually, quite the opposite.

The poker thing hasn't gone down on flames just yet. He seems like a smart enough guy to me, and if he's actually interested in playing poker, I think he can do just fine, especially considering he plays a very strategic kind of tennis.

Lol, Vernon talked about a public event.

If anything, the stuff being talked about before here about whether he's really with his girlfriend or whether he sleeps around are more stalker like ;).

You can do whatever you want. I HATE hero worship, and Vernonbc is one of the worst about thinking Nadal is perfect in every way. I don't think he is perfect, and I also think there's a whole other side to this guy that we have never seen, and that it ain't pretty at all. Based on the way he treats the WADA testers gives me a small glimpse of how nasty he can be when the cameras aren't on him.

I didn't see it, and I don't need a video to show me that Nadal is miserable 99% of the time whe he has to do anything tennis related. He's had a face like thunder for nearly 2 years now.

    Oh please
Nothing he said pointed to him being "nasty" to them. If anything he's clearly civil now, did you forget that?.

Jaded was the wrong word. He was bent over kinda gasping though in a moment, so unless that's something he usually does while training, which I'd think is not, his fitness doesn't seem to be what it should right now.

You don't think he comes across as immature? Lol. He's terrified of the dark, he hates animals and is terrified of them, he's paranoid, he can't do anything without being joined at the hip with his family, and he still lives with his parents at the age of 26 because he's afraid of being alone. He is immature and there's no denying it.

There's nothing stalker like about any of the stuff that was posted. The problem is Nadal fans like you, Vernonbc, and several others refuse to believe this guy is anything but purity in human form. Sorry to inform you, but he likes to party, he likes sex, he likes to drink/get sloshed, and he has been with other women besides the stone faced Xisca. He curses, and throws fits, and can be a total jerk if he feels like it. Knowing these things ruins the fantasy you people have created about Nadal being this innocent island boy who never steps out of line, so you poo poo anything about him you don't want to hear. It's a classsic case of denial.

Not speaking a word to those people is being needlessly rude and is being nasty to them. Unless you think it's good manners to behave that way to other people, but I wasn't raised to act like a spoiled brat.

I watched the video, and yes Nadal does bend over with his hands on his knees like that when he practices. Him doing that once sparked a huge debate if his knees were bothering him again on VB. He is probably doing it more than usual in this particular video, but like you said, his fitness is crap right now.

Again, do you know him personally at all? You keep acting as if it would be impossible that he is a jerk behind closed doors. I think it's highly likely that is the case.

Not again with this. I'm sure he treats them perfectly fine, you are making these assumptions that he is a huge brat from one comment he made, was it not you who said everything he says should be taken with a grain of salt :)

From what we have seen or heard from countless experiences from fans and quotes from other players, sportsmen, media etc, he is a generally nice guy. He is a normal human being who obviously has bad days just like the rest of us and might get irritated or angry sometimes, but nothing suggests he is 'nasty' and a 'jerk' as a whole. Again you are making one exaggeration after another.

Trust me, I am far from being a fangirl worshipper, but your comments that he is such a spoiled brat and a jerk behind closed doors have no substance as there are heaps of sources to suggest otherwise.

He never said he hates animals.

And being afraid of the dark and living with your parents doesn't make you immature. Laughing at fart jokes makes you immature, not being close with your family.

That's not what I meant. I just thought it was funny that you were saying you know that he's got an ugly side...even though we haven't seen it.

Again, if you can say, without personally knowing him, that it's highly likely that he is a jerk. I, too, can say, without personally knowing him, that it's equally likely that he is not.

Also, I never even came close to saying that it is impossible for him to be a jerk, the closest I came to making a comment on it was that he seems like he is not a complete a**. That is hardly making a statement one way or the other.

Not according to his own comments. He whines about them, lets them in his home, and then totally ignores them. That's rude and bratty behavior no matter how you slice it.

There are also bad experiences with him. Fans that say he won't utter a word to them and won't even look them in the eye. I once saw a video of him on youtube taking a photo with a fan with such a thunderous face that it was frightening. Just tell the fan you don't want to do it if your just going to look so angry and put out by taking the photo that you look psychotic.

One could certainly deduce that he does. He once said that he doubts the intentions of dogs/animals, and will never have a pet. Funny thing is he doesn't doubt the intentions of people, who are the most dangerous, destructive and dishonest creatures to ever roam this earth. He is weird, immature, and VERY naive.

And so does playing video games in your underwear, biting controllers, and breaking them as well. Still reading children's comic books well into your mid-twenties is immature. Guess who did/does all of those things?
