Too flashy for him maybe. It's not a "normal" (sic) car. :)

Not true. Aston Martin's are great cars. Nadal's, Aston Martin DB7 is almost like the best looking car one can buy. That said the model he has looks more for the track than for the road. Thinking about it, I've seen the top sports superstars get cars such as Audi R8, Merecedes SLS, Ferrari 458, Porsche 911 etc . Any of those would have been a good choice for Nadal. Perhaps better than the one he has (not in terms of the actual car - but in terms of looking less out of the place).

I think Fed's car - looks much better. Is this a personal choice? I mean, I'm sure the sponsors would have have a hand in this. It's not just the cars - for some reason, Fed always gets the better deals. overall, compared to Nadal.
Nike also dresses Fed up in 10x better clothes and they always make Nadal look like a clown. I mean, it was fine until Nadal played second fiddle to Federer, but now he's CLEARLY the best player in the world and should be the one getting the most attention from Nike.

In fact one can argue that since summer '08 Nadal has been the best, and Fed's rise in '09 had a lot to with Nadal being out. I mean there's a five year difference between Fed and Nadal, and now it's Nadal's time.

It's the natural order of the world that the young devour the old; but thanks to Nadal's injury in '09 - the old started to feel young again :)

There is an error in the article. The change of grip has just helped the first serve, and so it's pace increased by 30 kmph. Nadal's second serve is still slow the way it always was. The spin, is a saving grace, but still the aggressive players (Murray for ex) push Nadal on the defensive with their ROS. Nadal's second serve is still VERY slow for someone who can serve at 135 mph on first serve.

Actually, recently, even with the first serve, Nadal hasn't served as fast, CONSISTENTLY, as he did in the UsOpen. In the UsOpen, he had sooo many serves which were 130 mph+ - whereas now they seem to be from 120-125 mph.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how Nadal serves in the AO and if he can retain the NY serving form. That will be the key for his chances..

I don't think it would be in Rafa's best interest to serve at full speed outside of the slams. The more his opponents are seeing this Rafa the less effective it will be in slams. The opponents should only face the regular Rafa outside of slams and then have to adapt when he goes for the full power in slams.

He liked the simplicity and it reminded him of melbourne. I'm still not sure I understand whether he'll actually wear these on court. There were some ugly ones though lol. By simplicity that's what he meant...no gat awful colors like art attack gone wrong

So Shakira has officially ended her long term relationship with Antonio after 11years...wow. I wonder if the media will bother Rafa with this break-up news like they are doing with Pique.

There are a couple of things wrong with your post, and as the
interwebs is serious business, I thought I would point them out:
1: Nadal has an Aston Martin DBS, not a DB7. The DB9 replaced the DB7 about six years ago, and the DBS is seen as the more sport orientated option in their lineup. And I don't think a Ferrari 458 is going to be the better option if rafa wants to stay a little more hidden. I think when he said it was a mistake to buy that car, he probably meant that he doesn't use it as much as he'd like to. Rafa seems like he values things that are expensive, and that car represented a major luxury for him (as it would for most). The fact that he is travelling basically the whole year means that he very rarely gets to use it, and I think thats what he meant with the mistake.
2: Federer is sponsored by Mercedes Benz globally (it changed from
just China to global) and thus can obviously have his pick of their
cars. It has nothing to do with Nike, or any of his other sponsors what car he chooses.
3: It's personal preference whether you think Feds clothes (and cars for that matter) are better than Rafas. There isn't really a difference in price anymore,
especially as Rafa has established himself as a true great, Nike have
started giving him a signature line which focuses on a (primarily) younger market. There seems to be a focus on bold colours and technology, whereas fed's has a more traditional feel to it. Personally, I prefer Fed to rafa, but when I'm getting clothes I usually prefer to get stuff from the nadal line, simply because I prefer the training shirts and more wearable match shirts.

Actually, there are several errors, in the article and in your post, but it's a story line that got started at the US Open and not surprisingly, most journalists just repeat the incorrect information without fact checking and reporting correct data. Rafa's serve didn't increase 30 mph simply because of a slight grip change. He had been working on his serve for years and if these reporters had bothered checking, they'd find that his average serve at Wimbledon was just as fast as at the USO. It may have increased 30 mph over last year's US Open but the main reason for that was his torn abdominal muscle which greatly hampered his serving last year.

Also, Rafa's second serve may be slow but it is very accurate. In fact, he had the best second serve percentage on tour in 2010. His first serve stats were terrific too, second only to Andy Roddick. Here's a site that did some interesting analysis of service stats for the year. http://www.thesportscampus.com/201012319539/tennis-news/atp-tour-2010-in-review-part-2-service-stats

People must feel like they're standing next to a living legend (in the class of Einstein or Elvis in their prime) when they go near Rafa with all the consecutive slams he's winning and all. He's the most powerful person on planet earth!

Rafa and Roger are so focused on court they wouldn't notice if a bomb went off. I doubt very much if anyone could divert that focus no matter how pretty she may be!

Sharapova is a giant with no bra required and less than youthful face, certainly not a pretty one. I like the feminine girls more so :p

Apparently Rafa had a thing for pova before, bless him! :( The cold queen didn't want anything. Maybe the language barrier was a huge factor. He's been seen ogling at her plenty of times though :p

Sharapova isn't good enough for Nadal, she should come back when she has 5+ slams. Then we'll talk, lol.

I've stood near Nadal twice (within 15 feet) and disagree. He is a living legend but he isn't powerful by any means, nor do you feel like he's some sort of god, he's just some nice guy that happens to play great tennis. Same goes for Federer and Djokovic.

I have no doubt Federer and Djokovic have no aura. Rafa though, linked to the highest athletic power in history, greater than Jordan and Ali if he wins 5-6 consecutive slams and continues to rack them up thereafter. Plus he has very unique characteristics, not similar to any other athlete and a different philosophy to most of the elite.

I know but I mean people who are talking to him and socializing with him, they probably sense they won't ever meet a person higher up in history than he is headed for. Federer would probably sense this too, he'd be amazed that this player is on a different level up from what he thought was the best.

4 slams in a row, impossible in this era right? All-time record 18 Masters shields, at age 24, probably headed for 30. Staggering.
