So this is how Ralph keeps his precious H2H intact. I guess Ralph's fragile ego can't tolerate losses.

Why would we believe anything from the Nadal camp at this point? They have been playing this game since Wimbledon.

Do tell. What is it that we don't see? :(

Very disappointing but hardly surprising. I don't understand why people consider every single possible alternative to what is actually out there. But no, it must be the knee. No, there's something "mental" going on. No no, Nadal is abducted by aliens, that's why he won't play!

He hasn't played a match since 6 months. Stomach virus or not, if Nadal decided to play AO he wouldn't have played a single match before. Can he actually go on court and have a go? Most probably. Does that mean he's ready to play a GS tournament? Most definitely not.

Well, Nadal said that he would be spending less time on HC. I guess this is the start of his new career.

Whether you are a Nadal fan or not this thread proves he is as an important a figure in the sport or tennis as anyone ever has or will be.

A silent ban means he was drug-assisted during his racking up of titles. He never won anything fairly because he was taking drugs. He should be banned from the sport and stripped of all his titles if he was taking performance enhancing drugs.
I'm not saying that he is serving a silent ban but if he was, he should be booted from the sport. It does make you think how Nadal always had more fitness than every other player on the tour. Why did he always have more cardio in those 4-5 hour matches than his opponent? Especially considering he ate a lot of junk food and didn't exactly train like a beast. Not surprising at all if he was taking drugs to further his career and win titles he wouldn't have won without drugs.

Nobody cares about losers. Sports fans always move on...quickly. Once they see Nadal is old news and can't win anything anymore, they'll find something else to occupy their time.

Nadal out of AO? Big deal, he is far from being a favorite for the title there!

But I see that haters are very happy, I'm not surprised...

Why would there be happy haters? Some of the GREATEST MATCHES IN AO HISTORY included Nadal!!! Remember Nadal/Verdasco? Nadal/Tsonga (Once in a lifetime performance from Tsonga), Nadal/Djokovic last year, Nadal/Federer 2009 final....

Even if he returns, so what? He has to WIN tournaments. If he doesn't win, his endorsements and fanbase declines. As I said, the world has no time for losers and has-beens.

Nadal doesn't want to allow Djokovic to get a mental edge on him. He wants to keep his precious H2H while his fans gloat about it. Nadal is going to do everything in his power to skip every HC event and rob Djokovic of every conceiveable opportunity to even the H2H.
    Clear as day! :)

This a a great career move for Nadal. He has absolutely nothing to gain from playing AO except more injury that could wreck clay season. I mean he has no chance of winning this AO. Not only could this AO have aggravated the knees but it would give confidence to his foes, so from team Nadal's point of view what use is it to play AO?

I choose to believe Nadal's stomach virus story, which would justify his absence from Doha but not the AO. Instead, I think Nadal would rather miss a major tournament like the AO than risk a poor showing due to a lack of match practice on the big stage. Nadal comes across as a player that relies a lot on his level of confidence in order to do well. He's not particularly comfortable with bouncing out of a slump while on the tour, and a slump is possible if he does poorly at the AO.

Nadal is certainly afraid of the dark. He's most likely afraid of Djokovic. Nadal was crying in the locker room after the 3rd set during the rain delay at RG. Thinking he was going to lose to Djokovic for a 4th straight time at a Slam. We know Djokovic is on his mind.

We don't know any such thing. What we know is Nadal has not shown up now for six months and it has nothing to do with Djokovic whom he has just defeated three times in a row. We don't know if Nadal will beat Djokovic off clay in the future but that is not what is going on here imo.

Nadal is on a 3 match winning streak against Djokovic. It's like their 2012 matches never happened for some of you.

That's like me calling into work this week saying I'll be out sick the last week of January. I don't understand how not practicing for a week can set him back that far in his preparations. I think the more likely story is that his knee is not well as they are saying it is.

I for 1 will be curious to see how much weight Rafa has lost while he has been on 'rehab'. Maybe he will have lost 5 or 6 kg and have a 'normal' sized arm like the rest of the tour.

The last 3 wins was on clay, it has nothing to do with hc which Nadal still doesn't have an answer.

Mike Shamalamadingdong is another one to stop responding to. Same as Bullzilla and all of his multiple personalites. There is no discussing anything with these people because all they do is troll.

I don't know what Nadal is up to, but something definitely is not right with this entire situation. It stinks to high heaven, and I am just about sick of all of it.

We don't know if he has an answer or not off clay. But thinking Nadal is absent because he is afraid of Djokovic or any other player is stupidity. That is not what is going on here.

I don't believe he's suspended. I think he is physically way worse off than they let on. Maybe I am naive about this, but the silent ban stuff is total bs to me. Epsecially with so many doper's on the tour these days, including in the top 4. It's funny to think Nadal has been silently banned several times but Eeyore has never been caught? Not even once? No way.

What does Djokovic have to do with any of this? Djokovic probably dopes as well and maybe he has been tested positive who knows, but the focus now is on Nadal. He is the one who has been absent for six months and his injury that he is trying to push makes no sense given how he was competing at the FO and Wimbledon. Nadal is the one who has had many suspicious absences over the years, not Djokovic. Stick to the subject at hand. If this were happening with Djokovic or Federer you would be the first one to think something fishy was going on. Take your blinders off.

Eeyore has something to do with it because he's obviously doped up to his eyeballs but has never received one of these mythical silent bans. No way Nadal is the only one to have ever been caught and then punished in this manner.

And if Eeyore tested postive then he should have been silently banned as well. Why would Nadal be the only one to fail a test and then serve a silent ban? Makes absolutely no sense at all. Especially because I believe everyone in the top 5 is doping so Nadal is far from being alone.

Clarky think whatever you wish, the reality is Nadal is the one who has had these strange absences in the past few years not any other player and this time it is the longest absence of all, so just deal with the facts at hand.

His situation is very similar to Serena's whole situation with the "foot" issue and being absent for so long.

But if they are all doped up, don't you think at least someone other than Nadal would have been caught by now and silently banned? Look at how Eeyore's performance jumped to a degree he had never been at previously in his entire career until last year, yet he is not caught? Nope, sorry, I don't buy it.

Another thing to consider is that the doper's are always several steps ahead of the testing. It would be remote that Nadal, or any of the top 5, would ever be caught in order to be silently banned based on that alone.
