No one is saying that at all.

Giving Nadal credit for battling through his injuries is simply giving the guy credit where credit is due.

The guy has missed four slams and an Olympics . And yet he has still managed to win them all if not once but multiple times in some cases.

The man has 11 slams and an Olympic gold medal despite playing the most physical brand of tennis known to man.

Doesn't he deserve a little bit of credit. Is your hate that deep that you can't acknowledge one of the greatest achieents of all time ?

I can give credit to his achievment because he is a great player and he has accomplished great things.

What I cant do is somehow try and deduce that he is greater than players who have achieved far more or somehow try and twist logic to say that he is greater because he has managed to achieve what he has "in spite of his health/physical condition". You see his physical problems are a direct result of the way he plays the game which in itself takes away from his greatness. His physical problems are not an excuse why he has not won more but rather the opposite. He would have won more if he had been a better tennis player. Rafa is a great competitor more-so than a great tennis player.

His injury issues has meant he has had less chances to win.

Plus, at least part of his injury problems are related to his foot problem and not just the way he plays.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and ones opinion should not be forced on someone else.

You are free to think Fed is the goat and I am free to think that Nadal is the goat.

Debate is like sex .....it's something that should be enjoyed by two consenting adults.

But what you are doing is not debating . You are rather stomping your foot down like a 12 year old child trying force the other to think your way.

What Nadal has achieved in such a short time is truly incredible......no one has achieved so much so quickly before .

You are free to choose Federer as the goat. There's nothing wrong with that and it's quite a logical choice. But that doesn't mean you have to disparage a player because others think he is greater than Federer.

TDK, I am ok with others opinions and I don't want to force anyone to believe what I believe.

But I am not stomping my foot down or disparaging another player even though you may think so.

Actually I am doing exactly what you referred to: debating, just passionately.

Nadal also had Djoketitis all throughout 2011 and early part of 2012. Then he got the Rosol'ed Virus in June 2012. Still hasn't recovered.

Almost all players play hurt on the tour. Some choose to disclose it, while others choose not to.
Not sure what is the point of this thread.

Try to make you shed some tears. Are we succeeding? Either that or appealing to the GS authorities so they give all the next 10 GS titles to Rafa?

Hard to reason with people who insist on looking at the past events and say, "Let me throw in my what-if just to see my favorite player get that title". At that pace, no one has a GS title since everybody can do the what-if and reverses history.

How can simply stating a medical fact that Nadal played with a broken foot be taken as even mildly offensive or inflating anything ?

He had a broken foot ok.
    So???
    - He wouldve won if not.
    - The win for Djokovic should not count
    - Just stating he had issues nothing to discuss

    Which one??

He did not have a broken foot. That was misinformation started by,IIRC,Neil Harman, who then retracted his statement because it was untrue.

Rafael Nadal makes no excuses for defeat despite hairline fracture | The Australian

Although The Times has learnt that Nadal had a hairline fracture in the left foot that he hurt against Juan Martin del Potro in the fourth round and may not play for six more weeks, he put up no excuses for his defeat, his third in five Wimbledon finals.

This was unashamedly Djokovic's day, one he described as "beautiful". It comes at the end of many beautiful days, for he has been beaten only once in 51 matches since leading his nation to their inaugural Davis Cup triumph on home soil in December.

His lone defeat was by Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the French Open last month.

Djokovic said last month that his ambition was to become the best player in the world and his dream was to win Wimbledon - both have happened in 24 hours. “I am never going to forget this,” he said.

“We all know about the careers of Federer and Nadal, we don't need to spend those words again, they have been the dominant players in the world over the last five years. They always came up with their best tennis when it mattered most.

“It is a process for me of learning, of developing, just finding a way mentally to overcome the pressures and the expectations you have. I always believed I had the quality to beat those guys, to win the majors and the mental approach had to be positive. There is no other way.

“This success makes you rewind to the old days. You come back to your childhood and remember what you've been through to get to this stage. I guess that's necessary in order for you to fight for what you want to achieve.”

As ever with Nadal, he accepted defeat with humility and honesty, although he was hurting inside.

The 25-year-old would have won his eleventh grand slam and moved to within five of Federer's total of 16 had he won. Now he has to accept that he is second best in ranking terms again.

“We can analyse that my game is not bothering him,” Nadal said. “We have to find how I can bother him. I did in the past. He's in the best moment of his career. I am in one of the best moments of my career, but still not enough for him. I have to play longer. I have to play more aggressively. I have to have less mistakes.

“Seriously, I lost because I am playing against the best player of the moment, the best player of the world tomorrow (Tuesday), and I am the second. And when you play against these players and they are playing unbelievably, the normal thing is (to) lose. That's what happened the last few times.”

Nadal added that fathoming out a plan to beat Djokovic is now his priority.

“Even last year when I was winning three grand-slams, I knew my level was not for ever,” he said.

“Probably the level of Novak today is not for ever. I'm going to be here fighting all the time, waiting for my moment to beat him.”

Nadal had already decided that he would not play in the Davis Cup World Group second-round tie away to the United States in Texas this week, but if he has to take six weeks off, he will have little practice on hard courts before he opens his US Open title defence next month.

Yes. Nadal said he didn't have a fracture. Harman retracted. It was discussed here... and yet here we are. :-?

Lol, maybe. He was out a while afterwards. Can't remember now what he said the problem was though.

Lol, TDK can't handle the truth, demanding proof from a fellow Nadal fan because he wants to talk Nadal up.

Unlike Nadal, other than serving, Federer has never used his left-hand in any grand slam final. Surely that's a larger handicap than a broken foot no?
