He appears on the front page of The Times sports supplement this morning to pass on his congratulations to his friend Andy Murray:

"It is the late evening in Sardinia where I am having a small holiday and I have had a call saying that Andy Murray has reached the final of Wimbledon. I did not see the match, but I can only begin to imagine the emotions he must have been feeling. For Andy this is an amazing achievement. It is the home tournament.

To be in the final, to be playing against the best in history in Roger Federer, he has been fighting for this for a long time and now it has happened. I am very happy for him. To be in so many Wimbledon semi-finals and not be in the final - I am sorry that it was me who beat him on the last couple of occasions - is disappointing for him, but I knew that the chance would come again and that if it did come, he would take it."

Class act that Nadal. His loss will prove Murray's opportunity to finally bag his first slam...

    How poetic... LOL.

That's just Rafa getting back at Fed for saying Rosol taking him out made him LOL hard. If Murray does win, Djoko and Nadal will be first to congratulate Andy.

Not surprising. Nadal also called Federer and congratulated him when he won French Open in 2009. He is not an awful person like TW threads will make you believe.

I think Nadal congratulated Federer using his website and said that he would send Federer a text, but in a little bit as Federer would have like 500 messages waiting for him after the FO final.

Why would some guy who lost in the 2nd round be on the front page one day before the Wimbledon final? The editor should be fired. :)

Total class by Nadal per usual. One of the many reasons he is beloved throughout the world.

    Doesn't reflect on this forum.

That was pretty nice of Rafa to congratulate Murray. I don't think Nadal needs to say anything to Federer. Federer has won the event many times and reached the finals.

Rafa should just have said it to Murray, didn't need to be printed or us knowing. I am surprised he didn't add how his knee/knees are bothering him still :(

31 is a tad optimistic. I think Rafa will retire before he's 30.

How humble of Nadal to remind us all that he's the one who prevented Murray from reaching the final, implying that he would've done it again had they played in the semis this year...

Wouldn't a simple phone call or text to Murray & Fed achieved the same result?

    PR team?
