the last time Nadal was stretched to 5 sets at the US Open was 2004, and the last time he lost before SF was 2007, so if he's going to enter a slam without match-play, this is the slam to do it at.

and he'll be well rested to gain big points during indoor season, especially if he wins the US Open as convincingly as 2010 and 2013.

About that - you might wanna hit up YouTube and see what Roddick did to him that year. It didn't exactly take him five sets.

Don't mess up an agenda with facts, lol. Re: Nadal, a lotta his fans are in for a rude awakening, if he plays the Open at all. Little to no practice on clay before the French, that's one thing. Same deal on hard courts(to say nothing of his career long ineptness at defending non clay titles and his 1-4 recent record vs Novak)? Not gonna happen.

I think he heard rumors that the testing is getting better and figured he ought to take a few more weeks to get everything out of his system.

How bad is the wrist injury? I wonder if Rafa can even be ready for USO. He may end up skipping the whole hard court summer :(
But that would be a chance for him to be fresh in the fall and do better than usual then (including WTF) :)

Once the ball bounces low, Nadal is no longer a factor. He will never win WTF.

Not a factor?
He made WTF final twice (without losing a match on the way) :-?
In 2009, the ball bounced really low. Nadal didn't win a set from my memory. WTF adjusted their court to give Nadal a fighting chance. The ball almost bounces medium now. But still not enough bounce for Nadal to win it.

Yeah, right. WhatEver...... Cutie pie Rafi will arrive in NY with his 140 mph serve which he displays only during USO.... So déjà vu.

Armstrong has a strong competition in that department.

Rafa averaged 120mph 1st Serve in the 2010 US Open, but he only averaged 116mph in the Final vs. Djokovic.
