Not in this strong era he will. The King and Muzza will split all slams from now on.
Shouldn't your title be Fedal won't win any slams on 2011?
Anyway interesting perspective as Murray has not played particularly well since AO and Djoko has been injured?
The only slams Murray will ever win is if he begs Navratilova to play mixed doubles with him. And hypothetically speaking any era with Murray winning multiple slams would be a joke era, not a strong era.
According to majority on this board, Fed is old, done and dusted. It's only about Nadal, Djokovic & Murray from now on.
So the question is ===> Will Djokovic & Murray allow Nadal to win any more slams?
There could be some truth to this. However, I do see Fed taking one more. And Nadal taking the FO. From then on it will be Djokurray show.
If mens tennis ever turned into a Djokovic-Murray rivalry at the top people would just stop watching altogether. I remember before the Australian Open the dumb ass commentators trying to build up the excitement of it and the match turned into a joke of course, and it became quickly apparent how much Federer and Nadal are needed.
Nadal will be the favorite to win the French Open and Wimbledon for the next 3-4 years and even a threat to win the hard courts slams- especialy Australia, and Federer will remain a threat and stay ranked higher than Murray. Those who want both to simply dissapear so even overhyped non champions like Murray can reach the top (and Djokovic fanboys wanting a duck and non great like that to be on top so they can have an easy non rival to roll over, LOL) can keep dreaming.
Fedal didn't happen overnight. There will always be a new breed in tennis.
Nadal is almost the same age as Djokovic. That will be the main rivalry in tennis for the next 4 years or so, with Nadal probably still having the edge. Murray will be out of the top 5 by the end of the year. LOL at the idea of Nadal being replaced on top by a slamless pretender like Murray who is almost the same age as him. The new breed in tennis to reach the top will either be people like Raonic, Dimitrov, Berankis, Tomic, etc...or even more likely people we have never heard of yet.
First of all, before starting a thread, you Đoković fans should get your skit together
"The set guy" - oh snap ! I am still lolling over that
I will have what you are smoking, please.
Nadal fans in denial are amusing to say the least.
LOL delusional Djokovic fans masturbating over the fantasy of a chump like Murray as being his main rival in coming years is both amusing and sad to say the least. Of course one is the same individual who thinks Seles was going to go on to be a dominant grass court player, a better one than Graf, and win many Wimbledons, ROTFL!!!!!!!!!
Gotta feel sorry for the Murray bashers after he starts winning slams. They are going to be running from these forums
Murray bashers were definitely onto something, 'coz he's not disappointed them for nearly 3 years, since he reached his 1st GS final at USO 2008. He also fueled their passion at the start of the season with yet another performance fully in keeping with his character. Hence, they don't have anything to worry about for right now. Djokovic did not fare that much better in 3 years as well, making just 1 more final until this year, despite being proclaimed as the next great hope way back in 2008. Hence, until he makes good on his hype for at least 2 straight seasons, Fedal need not lose sleep.
Hey, I'm a Fed fan too. But let's get real, does Fedal really exist anymore. I know Roger has done well this year, but he is quite a few steps behind Djoker and Nadal.
Man, Davey is seriously butthurt just at the thought of Murray winning a slam. I wonder what he'll do if Murray actually wins one.
Which one has reincarnated from Davey?
Reincaranted from Davey25 (and other names) more like. NadalAgassi has a remarkably similar prose stye and taste in players.
For the record, can I just state that, while I know that Yoda really does know best, I would be gobsmacked if Nadal didn't win a slam in 2011. In fact I'd be gobsmacked if he didn't win 2.
Ahhh ok, NadalAgassi, that really makes sense. Coming up with a bunch of meaningless arguments as if they were actual evidence . That guy is funny. As for Nadal, FO of course is a very good probability, but I don't see why everyone thinks Wimby is such a lock or even good probability for Nadal. He's won 2 and neither was that easy.
OK, I'll play. What evidence do you have that Nadal won't win the French?
Well one line of evidence is that it is a tournament whose outcome is not fixed and there are 128 players to start.
Eh..Murray is going to win a slam this year for sure. I am going to say Wimbledon but possibly RG. He moves alot better on clay than he did a year ago and the slow surface really suits his game. He seemed to have an answer for everything Rafa threw at him at MC and just seemed to give up in the third set when they told him they ran out of pain killers.
I dont think Djoker picks up another slam and Fedal split the remaining 2. 4 different slam holders is the best outcome for tennis.
I also dont think any new kid will suddenly appear and blow people away. The courts are too slow now for a guy with a serve and a forehand to come in and catch people by surprise.
Please allow emails in your profile, I need to say something! Or email me.
You want to say something to me? Ok done, email now allowed.
He will win one or two. If he loses Paris however (which I can't see) he might lose all his confidence and go down slamless.
Exactly. (10 char)
Fixed it. His confidence is hit worst when he plays and loses horribly, than just loses.
Where in the hell is this Murray stuff coming from? Every year we have to sit through this mess.
How is that evidence he won't win?
this scenario is the best.
The Edward V of tennis.
Well by requiring evidence he won't win, you are implying that without evidence he WILL win for sure. I'm just pointing out that nothing is guaranteed, not even the FO for Nadal.
How many times will you guys eat your words
- Nadal wins FO....."he is a clay court specialist"
- Nadal makes it to finals of wimby "it's a fluke ...he is still a clay court specialist"
- Nadal makes it to final of Wby again "yet another fluke , Federer was playing poorly and it was slow grass"
- Nadal beats Fed in the greatest match of all time" on very wet slick grass...Fed was playing poorly Amd the lighting was bad
Nadal wins the AO - "he can't win on a hard court"
-Nadal wins the USO- "the AO is slow hard court he'll ne'er win the USO.
yup its all clay!. I dont understand why some guys are HC or grass specialists when all outdoor tournaments are played on clay?. Guess Nadal is the only guy who figured this out.
Ppl/haters said after Nadal won RG "he will never win anything besides RG", but the ATP made green clay, blue clay and probably any color Rafa demands!.
I think they should revert the surface back to what they were. Enough clay.
If we reversed the trend in surfaces, the entire Nadal generation will collapse in a hurry. Nadal is of course the greatest on clay, Djokovic has said multiple times that he prefers the slower surfaces, and he sucks on grass (slow/fast) anyway. Murray is currently the frontrunner for RG based on his performance in the 2nd game of the 2nd set of the Monte Carlo SF, so it is obvious clay is his very best surface.
LOL. Never thought of it this way. Awesome!
Hard to think Nadal won't win a Slam this year.
I get the feeling this thread will be active until Wimbledon at least, maybe even after Wimbledon.
No, doesn't imply that at all. He is the overwhelming favorite, though, so I thought you might have some reason for saying he won't win.
Federer isn't worth mentioning anymore.
The King has announced his return and is ready to take control again.
Hard to think he will win a slam during this era. We have the unstoppable king and a aggressive Murray who are ready to take over. Solderling can also finish the job, but it will depend on the draw.
This thread will remain active untill the USO where Nadal will lose his 3rd consecutive gs title.
What's "The set guy" about?
I'll take Nadal at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, if I had to choose now (meaning who do I think will win each of those tournaments). Even at the US Open, I would likely take Nadal over Djokovic. Yet winning all three of those majors will be extremely tough. It's early, but I think that even at the US Open, Nadal is likely to be very difficult for Djokovic to contend with. Best of five sets and the dynamics at majors (seven matches to win) tend to favor Nadal. Furthermore, Djokovic is yet unproven at both the FO and Wimbledon. I do think that Djokovic has a good shot at winning the US Open in particular this year. It's still early though, we'll see how they play from tournament to tournament.
Wow. All those proclaiming Djoker as 'The King' had better hope like hell that he doesn't have a season fade out. I like Novak, think he's a great player and there's no doubting he's on a great run. This could be the year he finally shows some consistency but until it happens, it hasn't happened.
As for Murray, I would have thought people would be thinking twice about predicting big things for him. It's actually what's weighing the poor guy down. He can't cope with these lofty expectations, especially when there's very little foundation for them.
Nadal has been better than Djokovic in slams, he has struggled more with Murray. By reading some posts you could think, that the slams will be played only between those two, if it were the case, Nadal seems to have the better cards considering the past. But the Spaniard on the other hand has often lost on hardcourt against players you would not have expected to beat him. I have often seen, that he is struggeling, if one or two players can give him a battle before the quarters or semis.
At the US Open last year Nadal could not have asked for a better draw. His only real challenge was Djokovic, before meeting him he had opponents, who were not in his class or had tough five setters before. He was fresh as a daisy in the final, which was a big advantage.
Djokovic is on a new diet and is way fitter than he used to be. Rafa can say goodbye to beating Djokovic. At least he got his US Open before Djokovic got fit. lol
This is a comical post. Djokovic lost to Nadal fair and square. What "new diet" is he on? You dont have to like nadals game but to discredit him like this is ridicolous. Besides both the indian wells and miami matches (especially miami) were close.
Agreed. This is Murray's year and the start of an undisputed dominant stretch for the Scot. He will win the next 12 slams without dropping a set. Djoker may have a better diet but Muzza has increased hand eye coordination due to his intense X box Kinect training. His movement on clay was that much more impressive in Monte Carlo mostly due to the Michael Jackson experience...
Is it one of those *cough* diets, that ... er ... requires a voluntary suspension when detected ?:twisted:
