He used a pure drive as a junior, he started winning like crazy when he switched to the AeroPro. I guess Uncle Tony made Nadal use powerful racquets.

Anyone know what age he switched to the Aerodrive? Odd as the Pure Drive had such a reputation (Moya). Is Uncle Toni that smart that he knew to have him change?

babolat made the aero drive for him. babolat came out with the aero design a couple years before the aero drive and the racquets flopped. the throat design was the same but the hoop was thin and aero shaped as well. but babolat had all their pros test the frames and give feedback. apparently nadal really liked the frames so babolat worked with him and they came up with the aero pro drive. that's my understanding, IIRC

No. That's 100% incorrect. The Areopro Drive came out long before Nadal made something out of himself on tour.
