Nalby is unseeded. Simon is the No. 2 seed.
    that w/b a quarterfinals match

much as I love the Frenchie, I want Nalby to vamos to the QF win! :D

i'm not so sure about that
D Nalbandian (ARG) vs [2] G Simon (FRA)
is the last match on tomorrow's center court menu.

nalby won two davis cup rubbers last weekend, and he won here today, tho paire was a tricky customer and seemed to really get into nalby's head, causing him to lose self-confidence, tho he eventually held it together long enough to win tehir first-round matchup.

the simon:nalbandian H2H is even at 1 all, both in 2010 ... after what i saw today, simon might possibly be the stronger mentally at this time, but i'm assuming nalby will come into the match with confidence in his ability to out-mental simon ...... course, simon will figure he can out-last nalby

either way, as long as nalby's not too worn out (I expect it to go the full three sets) from davis cup, it s/b a most entertaining match :D

    * Verdasco wins 3-setter vs. Marti *

NEXT up ... L Mayer (ARG) vs [Q] J Chardy (FRA)

AFTER that ... Bandyman vs. Frenchy. . .

I second this! I think he will make very few mistakes and will be too fit for Nalbandian - I thought he hit it very well against Monfils 10 days ago

Great match from Nalbo though it's obvious Simon doesn't like clay. Dave does seem pretty slim.

oh okay ... I have sigs hidden in my preferences, so I forget theyre there. That's from the beginning of the season when it was reported that federer and nadal had disagreed about some possible atp rule changes, and apparetnly N didnt agree with F cuz that's what he was quoted as saying

This year's tournament lineup is looking rather strong and interesting.

Many good clay courters there. If they could bring Dolgopolov back it would be one of the most interesting 250 lineups.

It will be interesting if Bellucci, the local favorite, will live up to the tournament.

Rooting for Nalby to win this one. It's great that he's fit, hopefully he can give us more memorable matches. Looking forward to Bellucci-Mayer as well.

The last time Nalbandian looked this thin, he ravaged through the tour in late 2007. Not saying this will be the case again, but hey! a guy can dream :)

I would sooooo luv that to happen ... I never saw him play in those days and i'm looking forward, hoping he stays healthy this season and makes a run up the rankings.

    ------------

meanwhile, today he's up a break on volandri, 5-2

surprisingly to me, volandri seems to be doing better than simon did, and there have already been some very entertaining rallies :)

apparently, the atp website hasnt yet caught on to the fact that nalby's got a new clothing sponser, tho he's still wearing the yonex shoes ...

some very nice backhands on display by both guys, but volandri was able to turn his into a breaker ... then he held on ... nalby serving 1-4 and showing some frustration

absolutely didnt see that coming till the very last shot

flippo's final shot that caused the error from nalby was, fittingly enough, a SHBH ...

    Volandri d Nalbandian 36 63 75 ...

... now let's see if Bellucci can make it into the SF this year!

Volandri is pure class - experience has given him admirable composure in a match whose winner was decided by just a few strokes.

That match was the best I've seen for 2012!

    Absolutely scintillating stuff!

Watching Bellucci here now - he is absolutely useless. No sense of how to construct a point with some kind of element of safety. He just bashes with his sh*t forehand and sh*t backhand and comes in to the net as if he is able to volley when he is actually the worst volleyer i have ever seen.
Actually, I hate all of these little crappy clay court tournaments in south america - players like chela, berlocq, del bonis, bellucci playing crappy tennis. Sorry about the rant - I guess not watching it is the easy solution. I will only watch clay in future if ferrer or some other proper clay court player is in it - other than that i just find it too frustrating to watch.
Off to watch Raonic and Harrison now - some proper tennis.
