Who is the favorite of the tourney in each age group?
18s.. I'll take R.Sarmiento or Bangoura .... 16s I'll pick Withrow
18s Zach Leslie 16s Chase Curry
I also like Bangoura for 18s
these guys will be slipping on the clay... lol
zach leslie made the finals of the 16s clay courts last year
you got to be kidding about me this kid who do great to make the semis
zack is insane on clay
have you been practicing on clay yet? the stuff over in FL is a lot better than any stuff we have here in my area.. where are you practicing? the 16s site are really nice country club with nice everything.. the 18s site sucks.. when it rains the doesn't drain and there's puddles everywhere.. good luck and be prepare to scrape your legs on the clay...
haha ive been playing like 5-6 hours a day on clay. The club I play at has nice clay courts so it works out pretty nice.
What is the name of the club?
i prefer not to say over the internet but its in san diego
naw barnes clay is garbage
I am praying for a minor hurricane, because we can't go. Poot!
Otherwise, competitors BE CAREFUL at that tournament.... it has the highest incidence of injuries and illness outs. There are so many that cramp out, puke, pass out....
Remember the most important rule of all: if you're going to vomit, do it right in the middle of the court. Be sure to hit multiple areas. Why you ask? Because play must be stopped until maintenance cleans it up & it's certified by an umpire as sanitary & 100% dry. It gives you a chance to recover.
last year it rained for about 3 days straight, tons of players bailed.
I think it's stupid to put a clay tournament in the target zone of hurricane season, year after year. Can't they do the clays some place more inland? There are tons of clay courts in the south.
do you know the weather forcast for this year? Are we in trouble? I hope not
I have yet to see an accurate weather forecast from day to day, let alone a 10-day forecast.
It's Florida, it's July, it's going to rain.
woww WTF? so you're a mom? you sound like a stupid kid ." praying for a minor hurricane, because we can't go. "" so just because you cannot go you wish bad things to happen to spoil it for the others? O-K !
last year the 18 site was really bad.. a few players twisted and injured their ankle and leg because the courts did not dry/drain evenly ... when you slide and hit a wet spot, your feet stays and your body keeps on moving, this is not a good thing to do under any circumstances ..
the humidity is so high there after the rainstorms that your sweat too much and you really need to hydrate your body well or you'll cramp up fast.. force yourself to always drink and stay away from those sweet energy drinks ...
haha exactly why i dont slide...
yep, sometimes I am confrontational brat. I admit it.
For the B18s in 2008, I count 32 injury/illness outs.
For the B18d in 2008, I count 37 injury/illness outs. (Granted that's likely a result of the ones that bailed after 3 days of rain.)
For the B16s in 2008, I count 23 injury/illness outs.
For the B16d in 2008, I count 4 injury/illness outs
I maintain that's a lot!
2008 injury/illness out stats weren't as bad as 2007 as I recall.
I know right, theres a deisgnated going on the same weekend, and when i did this designated last year i had a whole body cramp and another was hospitalize with chest cramps.
And...watch out for flying racquets!! Not being use to humidity, my son was sweating bad. His hands were soaking wet and when he went to serve, his racquet went flying out of his hand, 1/2 way across the court, smashed down and cracked. It was pretty funny but someone could have really been hurt. We quickly found out about tacky overgrip, tacky towels and tacky powder!
would have to go with bangoura and kruger
Kruger has no chance of winning the whole thing, although he will do well. If Alex Halebian is playing this tournament, he has a solid chance to win it. Frantangelo is playing well now, has a chance.
My son uses another product by Prince. It's a liquid chalk. A dab will do ya.
I'm changing my prediction .. boys 16s ... the winner is ... Jackson Withrow.. cool name.. excellent player.. a bit of a mental case.. we'll see..
how can u play on clay and not slide? or how can you do good on clay w/o sliding
How about fourteens? Anybody comes to mind?
Michael Guzman or TJ Pura will win it
id say samuel todd will probably win the 16s
i dont know Stephen Watson might make some noise down there.
haha exactly why i dont win in singles on clay....
BB nice to see you back in action..
Jim Courier won FO twice and hardly ever slid.
ahahatrust me im not bb im a junior from socal iv played sam once b4
you write like him and you sound like him so you're deit then.. lol hi deit...
ahaha im not it was a joke. im alex i played sam at 08 quksilver
man you're not alex, alex's too busy to be blogging..... lol
ahahahahaaha its the other way around
ok i better delete that stuff she's gonna kill me...
haha is this really? haha ya that was def. one of my better matches.... not lol
What does everyone think of the draw
I see a lot of SoCal kids not passing 2 rounds in the main draw..
I like my chances....psych
A bunch of So Cal 18's are staying home and playing the Claremont Pro Futures Wild Card Tourney
some 16s thrown in there too.. wise choice , a lot of SoCal. players are really not cut out for clay court tennis.. it takes too long to learn the clay court game.. SoCal players rather just bang the crap out of the ball.. there's not enough good clay courts out here in SoCal. to train on.. even the stuff they have at Carson (national tennis training center) sucks... and Querry trains there..
So upset Vega pulled out I dont know whats up with him
Any surprising results? Some that stand out to me is in the 16s is ace matias losing quickly and krueger losing to kocovic.. in the 18s is blake davis.. nvr even heard of him before this tournament.
ohh i played him before, that kids good. He cheated me out a game though cuz he was so stuburn. Well anyways he beat me 0-0. Go Withrow!!!
