For those of you who have used this combo(gut main and w/ a solid core synthetic cross), what do you break first, the main or the cross? Please include which specific gut and synthetic you use and what gauges for each. Many thanks. :)

So do your gut mains still break first despite using string savers? Do you put them in the sweetspot or only where the gut is fraying? Thanks for the help.

I was on my 2nd month with the replaced 2nd bb orig.cross when the 20 year old victor imperial gut broke at the top grommets. So I think my new set up which is 15g tonic with bb alu cross will last a lot longer.

Klip Legend 15L/Head Fibergel Power 16. Head Fibergel 16 in the crosses breaks first. I've been experimenting with other multis in the crosses recently. The gut has been very durable.

Btw my homemade string savers are made of aluminum glued to the gut mains.
