I bought a set of Klip Legend 15L, and plan on doing a hybrid on both my Prestige Tour 600's but I have a ton of poly to choose from. Since this is my first time with natural gut I want some opinions of what it goes good with. I'm about a 4.5 - 5.0 baseliner/all arounder, based around that please help me out! Here's what I have to choose from:

    Luxilon ALU Power
    Luxilon Big Banger Original Rough
    Luxilon Super Poly
    A few set's of Luxilon Adrenaline (Play-test)
    Signum Pro Poly Plasma
    Head Ultra Tour
    Mantis Power Poly
    Mantis Comfort Poly

I believe that if you hybrid poly in a racket you should not hybrid it with a multifilament string. The multi string do not hold up well with a poly. Poly is so dominant you will not get the benefit of the gut or multifilament string. If I were you and going to hybrid it with a poly I would something else.

I wanna try the gut though. I'd break it too quick if I had it as a full job, or are you saying I should hybrid the gut with a syn gut?

think about the string bed too, an 18x20 is a little better on string than a 16x19 or a 16x18

i think an 18x20 is a bit better for string durabilty since i heard somewhere that it evens out and holds the tension better due to it having 18 mains and 20 crosses. as opposed to 16x19

Put the gut in the mains. Gut has great playability throughout the whole lifespan but polys don't so add playability by putting it in the mains.

Don't worry about durability. The poly will probably break before the gut.

ALU POWER is probably the best poly.

well said. Even though i dont use gut that seems the most sensible. Your going for gut you might as well spend a bit more right?

Yes. I'd be afraid of it cutting thru the gut alot faster then ALU POWER though. I've tried both and I really didn't like the rough compared to ALU Power.
