Magic liking Left Coast...Lakers & Warriors victimized by 4th quarter spurts on back-to-back nights. Always so nice to see 80+% FT team stats. As dull as it sounds, that's a winning formula in the NBA...stay close, play "D" and make your FTs.

I love this Magic team. Even though we are not good yet, it is so fun to watch these guys. It is such a well coached team. I truly think Vaughn will be the best coach in Magic history when all is said and done.

Think the team plays hard and won't tank for picks. I also think the trades they make will be for high 2014 picks, since that is a much better draft.

I can't tell you guys how mch fun it is to watch Dwight show his true colors somewhere else outside of Orlando. I think it could continue and get worse too. el BJ was a total diva year 1 with the Heat, but he is so much more talented, he dug himself out of that trap with amazing play.

I have never liked the Lakers but now that Dwight Howard is there I truly root against them no matter who theyre playing, even the Heat. I love that Howards being fouled unmercifully at the end of games and hes choking in every instance too. It was funny to see him in an interview saying, "we didnt lose because of my free throw shooting." Keep telling yourself that dunce.

Dwight Howard is one of the worst people in the world in terms of entitlement and living like an irresponsible Dbag. Not only does he have 4 or 5 kids with different moms, but in terms of basketball he never takes blame for anything.

In Orlando it was SVG, Jameer, Hedo, the local reporters, the fans (yes he blamed the fans for not being loud enough before), Shaq, the guy who posted nude pics who looked exactly like him but somehow was not....

I love that every team is now hacking him, and that the Magic exposed the blueprint. Its the little things like that you have to enjoy during a rebuilding year.

Theres nothing better in sports than seeing these athletes who try to hold a team hostage have it come back to haunt them. I loved seeing Pujols' team miss the playoffs while the Cardinals made it in the NL w/o him and nothing would be better than to see the Lakers miss the playoffs and somehow the Magic go on a roll and slip in there somehow.

If Vucivic continues to develop, the Magic have a small chance at the 8 seed, but they really need a true wing scorer at some point. Right now it is a piecemeal effort by Redick and Aflalo, both guys who IMO are duplicate talent - they should come off the bench for a contender.

I love what the Magic have done from a rebuilding standpoint. I have said it many times in the last thread that Hennigan did not get ripped off, he actually gave the team incredible flexibility and due to this, I think the Magic will have some stud players by the 2014 season and be back in the playoffs again.

No they're not. Affalo is a defensive player with the ability to take it to the hole. Whereas Reddick is a blow-by magnet but a damn good spot up shooter.

Both valuable in their own art of playing the game.

Agree that Afflalo is a better defensive player, but JJ is a better shooter. It balances out because they are both basically great bench guys. That is what I am saying. We have 2 backup shooting guards who bring about the same thing to the table the more you watch them play.

Also JJ is not as bad at defense as people think..unless you rarely watch magic games. JJ plays some of the most fundamentally sound basketball I have seen in the NBA, and as a result is not a liability on defense.

Having both guys on the team is not optimal. That is my main point.

Oh I agree, either player will instantaneously add depth to any team. Even if you throw either into a deep team such as Spurs/Clippers/Grizzlies. Reddick does play sound fundamental basketball, and I think he plays great team defensive. He comes up with a lot of picks off of help, and gets into the passing lane and either pokes things away or force a turnover.

But it's those 1-on-1 matchups that kills him. He's not athletic enough (on the NBA scale) to keep guards in front of him, and he's not big enough (again, on the NBA scale) to keep small fowards in front of him.

I hope the Magic trade Afllalo and keep Redick. I just love what he brings off the bench. Him on the spurs would be insane though.

The cool thing about bringing him off the bench is his defensive matchups are not as bad. It was a great move by Vaughn to do this. He also never guards SFs anymore since that would not be good.

Dude is just a fan favorite and lives a few blocks from me so I am biased maybe. Just a real nice, laid back guy who anyone would want to root for.

Normally I would agree as I loathe Duke.

But you meet a guy in person a few times and your opinion can change.

    Crazy how that works.

Redick/Affalo? That spot and their roles are not the present or long-term issues with the Magic. The most vulnerable spots for them are interior toughness and the age/injury issue at PG. Jefferson exposed the former rather emphatically last night and Jameer's in-and-out of the lineup status so far this year (and in the past) is a verifiable fact. Unless those holes get plugged by mid-season, and IMO they can't be fixed this year, the Magic's playoff hopes are dismal at best. The Eastern Conference will probably go 4-2-2 (Atlantic, Central, Southeast) and Orlando will vie for 9th to 11th...that's not bad for them long-term as they get a nice lottery spot to get a tough big or PG in '13s draft and go from there.

Well the entire roster right now is composed of solid bench players. That is really what I am saying. So having JJ and Afllalo IMO is pointless, especially when they could be coming off the bench for a contender and contributing that way.

The problem is JJ is going to get paid on the open market and the magic dont think they can afford him again. So they got Aflalo to replace him. If they luck out with a trade and can draft shabazz, than sweet..if not - I agree...get a PG this year in the draft since Jameer is so oft injured.

I also see Baby getting traded as well. The Magic definitely are weak on the inside and are not blocking shots. I think Nick V will be a great C, but imagine him in a 3 man C/PF/C rotation off the bench.

I too dont think any of the holes will be fixed this year because it just does not make sense to do that. It is better to lose and get a lotto pick. But the magic are so well coached and do have developing guys, so you never know. Also they have so much flexibility with that 18mm TPE and JJ and Harringtons expiring, that they can trade into a much better team by 2014. As much as I would love to get that top pick and land Shabazz or Noel, I would hate to see a culture of losing instilled in our young guys. I do not think that will happen with Vaughn, but it is tough to fight an avalanche of losses.

Just ran into Hedo at lunch. He stayed in town. Said he is on track to come back hopefully soon.

There was an interesting discussion on today's game and fundamentals between Reggie Miller and Mike Fratello:

Players are more concerned with the highlight reel than the footwork and knocking down a simple mid-range off of a screen.

I wonder if TNT is going to broadcast anymore Phoenix Suns home games, the arena is relatively empty! And it's a two point game!

The suns just have nobody but they play real tough basketball for being a bad team. Feel bad for the fans, but they had a great run there for years.

What's there to hate on? Just think it's funny that you have to go out of your way every other post to mention how you 'spoke' to certain people and it somehow makes your opinion more valid. Not just in this thread, but in the CFB thread as well. That's all. If that makes me a 'hater', so be it.

Dont get all sensitive because some of us have lives and are well connected to some of our favorite teams. For me, its fsu and the magic and i have been a fan of both since birth. You take it like i am looking for approval on here, because in your little world, thats how you see it.

Grow up and take shots at people in person and not on the web. Maybe stop posting creep pics of tennis girls and get a real one while you are at it. It may help with your little habit of being combative online with people you would never say a thing to in person.

You start arguments with everyone in every thread you make. Why is this?

Dude in case you didn't notice I barely even post on here in general anymore, only in O&E. I was making a joke about your little habit, but you took it the wrong way - one of the hazards of the internets obviously. We're all adults here, so like the title says, let's keep it classy.

Arguments in every thread? Hardly. We all like to debate around here, the camaraderie is good. Like I said I was taking a little poke at you, just like the guys on TNT do to each other all of the time ironically, but obv you took it the wrong way. Mike Wilbon also likes to name drop, doesn't make him a bad guy, does it?
    http://michaelwilbonbrags.wordpress.com/

Trust me, I have bigger fish to fry than getting offended/jealous just because you live around some guys that play basketball. Just think your habit is a little amusing, nothing more nothing less.

Now off to scubadiving with Nene and Jordan Crawford...

The guys at tnt know each other and do those things in person. This isnt tnt dude. You know better than that, but ill buy your excuse because it is not a big deal. I think your habit of posting creeper pics is amusing as well. Hopefully next time you go scuba diving it wont be with all men.

Just to keep this on topic, is it safe to assume that no team really hits its stride until around feb, and the lakers, heat sucking is bored media overblowing it. Its like the yankees every year starting off terribly and still making the playoffs. Its a repeat every year. Too much sports media coverage.

I wonder if Kenny's reaction to Charles calling another game in NY is scripted, or legit. Something tells me he's actually bitter because this is Charles' second game in a month AND it's in NY. But I think it's scripted because Kenny is a good sport when it comes to jokes and stuff.

Wait, so in one breath you go at me for posting 'creeper' pics of tennis girls, then say 'all men'. Am I a sad loser who can't get any women, or a gay man who gets plenty of men? You tell me since you obviously know more about me than even I do.

Oh, my bad I thought this was all "just joking around" and we were like Kenny and Charles. lol. Sorry to hit a soft spot.

Speaking of Charles, I love the guy announcing games now and then. NBA coverage to me is so much better than any other sport. I watch the heck out of some NBA channel - the coast to coast show where they just show games and comment on them throughout is fantastic.

D'Antoni is a bad coach for the Lakers. We all know it. They could not hire the zen master, but he was the perfect guy to try and get all the egos in the room to gel.

It will be tough for them to move Gasol for any value, but they need to do something.

Here is my insane- "never will happen ever, but it actually makes sense" idea. Move Gasol back to C and trade Dwight for Dirk. Dwight will probably resign with Dallas since he loves Cuban and Dirk gets a real crack at a ring again.

    Nash - Kobe - Artest - Dirk - Gasol .

i think it's funny that dwight doesn't think his free throws are costing them games. and funnier that he doesn't want to listen to advice from nash - only a 90% career from the stripe. what does he know?

I think Dwight Howard should really chat with his other LA rivalry: Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan from the Clippers. Each year, they've added to their game. DeAndre Jordan picked up so many moves in the off season, I think he's more offensively polished than Dwight Howard.

Seems AndrisBiedrins of the Warriors is in contention. Last 3 years, he's averaging 42 percent and often misses the rim entirely.
He's making 11 mil for another 2 years, on this 3rd year of his contract.

I don't think either Gasol and Biedrins could be mentioned in the same breath. They might make similar salaries, but their level of play is as different as night and day.

I saw this the other day. When you come up 10 feet short on a free throw, you need to be under the bench. Heck there isnt a grandmother in the stands who couldnt shoot the FT better than this guy. Hes the only guy on the planet who could ask Dwight Howard about free throw tips and it not be a joke.

I thought he was deliberately missing so his teamates would get the ball.
In high school, we had a great rebounding team. Coach asked all the freethrow shooters to aim for the back of the rim, to get the long bounce.
They did, we did our job, and secured over 70% of the rebounds off our deliberately missed free throws.
