NBC hoses West Coast viewers once again!

Once again NBC hoses all the viewers on the West Coast with their "10:00am in all time zones policy"!

Not only do we get no Wimbledon coverage at all from 7:00am to 10:00 am PST, but since NBC comes on at 10:00am PST, they force ESPN2 to totally black-out their coverage from 10:00am to 3:00pm PST! Even though NBC's coverage already ended at 1:00pm, but ESPN2 is still blacked out for another 2 hours!

It may be 1:00pm on the East Coast when ESPN2 came on this afternoon, but it's STILL only 10:00am here on the West Coast so they black it out so they won't compete with NBC! Why do they schedule the air time slots only for the East Coast and totally alienate the West Coast viewers? Aren't there even more tennis fans and players on the West Coast?

So now we completely miss out on the 5 hours of Wimbledon coverage on ESPN2 this afternoon. I'd bet they were showing the great Nadal-Soderling match, too! Arrrhhh...... I HATE NBC!!!!!!!

Lets face it.. it just sucks to be in the west coast if you want to watch European tennis.. I mean what?! We have to wake up like at 4-5am to watch the freakin finals!

I mean sometimes I oversleep a little and I wake up an hour later.. and I wake up with no tennis.. just news Justine demolishes Ivanovic 6-2 6-1

The only womens final I remember watching in the recent memory of Wimby or French is Davenport/Williams where they reached 9-7 in the third.

How about the Nadal-Soderling match? Didn't ESPN2 show that during the blackout on West Coast?

Two minutes of Rafa and then it started raining . All they've showed is Serena. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, they are now on the fourth showing of the match since they've came on air at one. And with NBC showing her too - this is the fifth time I am seeing it in the last 5 hours.

You've just gotta love it, huh? :-(

I guess it's all Serena all the time. Man, I wish she would lose so we can see other tennis. Now I don't feel as bad about not seeing that Nadal 5-setter. Thanks for the info.

Breakpoint - You should send them a thank-you note.

They're just finished showing the Serena match for the umpteenth time - took a break to show us clips from Concert for Diana *sigh* and then went to the Match-Update wrap up and they start with highlights of.....*drumroll* Serena!

Golly. I always record the entire broadcast, as I am in and out all day. I just went to the tube to relax a bit and watch some of the other matches. You know, Baghdatis, Nadal, a few others.

Nothing. All Serena, again and again. With the occasional Venus re-run.

That is *so* not cool. I am very angry. We got exactly two matches over 10 hours? Are they kidding me?

And now on the highlight show - in case someone somewhere on the planet didn't see it the five other times it was shown today.

that's all i saw on tv today - serena and hantuchova. went to play a match for 2 hours and they were still showing reruns when i came back. disgraceful, especially since nadal/soderling was in the 5th set

Aaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to just SCREAM for the next 10 minutes!!!!!!

After waiting through all the rain delays on NBC for the past 3 hours, on which very little tennis was played, and the blackout on ESPN2 imposed on it by NBC for the last 3 hours, the blackout finally just lifted at 1:00pm PST because NBC's broadcast window just ended and they're gone for the day, so I just switched over to ESPN2 and guess what they just started showing again for the 385,937,594th time?

Yup, THE STUPID SERENA-HANTUCHOVA MATCH YET AGAIN!!!!!!

So not only did the West Coast viewers miss all the live men's tennis that was going on on ESPN2 for the past 3 hours due to the stupid blackout, but when the blackout is finally lifted, we are once again subjected to the torture that is known as the Serena-Hantuchova match!!

So we missed out on the Roddick-Mathieu, the Nadal-Soderling, and other men's matches but we get to see Serena once again? Is there no justice nor compassison left in this world? :-(

holy crap they are showing it again! Coverage just shifted from NBC to ESPN2, and this is the first thing they show?! Why not some in studio interviews or something? God knows all the players are available for some words. Its not like anyone is playing or practicing .

I wouldn't call it "shifted". ESPN2 has been broadcasting live for the last 3 hours at the same time NBC was. It's just that NBC forced ESPN2 to be blacked out (at least on DirecTV) to West Coast viewers so that they could not compete for viewers with NBC. There was no black out on the East Coast and coverage shifted from ESPN2 to NBC at 10:00am EST and then back to ESPN2 at 1:00pm EST until 5:00pm EST. However, due to NBC's dumb policy of coming on at 10:00am "in all time zones", when ESPN2 comes back on at 1:00pm EST, it's still only 10:00am PST when NBC comes on so it's blacked out. Thus, we miss everything that was shown on ESPN2 for all of those 3 hours including all the men's matches!

I hate how NBC is entitled to any coverage during the week. They will not preempt the Today Show, for some reason they won't play it accordingly to time zones, therefore, when they do play tennis other than eastern time zone everything is an hour to hours off. It's irritating to go from tennis then have to wait an hour and knowing that what you see is not live.

And it's not racist to want the powers at be to show some tennis other than the Williams sisters. Sometimes you have to wish for certain players to get knocked out early, Roddick, Williams sisters, Sharapova, in order to see better matches a long the way.
