Need help with serving!

    what does it usually mean when my elbow hurts when i serve? especially when i extend my arm to reach for the ball my elbow just starts to ache

    It called golfer elbow. Usually common with serving. You need to lower the tension a bit and consult an coach about modifying your serve just a bit.

    should i get it checked? or is there any other way to cure it?

    The ligaments in your elbow are torn (just small ones) and will need a few months to completely heal although you shouldnt feel anything after a couple of weeks. It means your serve form is messed up

    If it on the inside of the elbow its golfers. If it on the outside then it tennis.

    Shouldn't we diagnose the problem first, whether it's overuse, physiological, plain old injury, or what not?
    It can be any or a combo of many problems.
    We don't know what his serve looks like.
    We don't know the condition of his body and arms, especially the elbow.
    WHERE does it hurt? And I don't mean "elbow".
    And do you tend to snap your arm straight during the service motion?
    Just too many questions, not nearly enough input from OP.

    If you hold your hand out, palm up toward the sky... does it hurt on the inside or the outside of the arm?

    Ha ha...
    If I held my left arm out, palm facing upwards, ...it would be impossible! At best, the palm faces 30 degrees off to the right (inside). Yes, injury.
    If I held my right arm out, palm facing upwards... sharp pain on the inside of the elbow joint if the arm is anywhere near straight. At least straighter than 45 degrees at the elbow. That arm has been permanently bent for over 15 years, cannot be straightened out, ever again.
    Now I can firstserve somewhere around 100+ left handed, and maybe 85+ right handed, with pain sometimes from extension.
    Life is cruel, but the alternative is not a bed of roses either.

    Elbow pain!

    I've had both tennis and golfer elbow at the same time:twisted:

    It all comes down to R&R. That didn't work for me as I couldn't stop playing tennis for more than 6 weeks. If you insist on playing like I did, you need to check out your equipment. Stiff racquet and tight strings attributes to elbow problem. A more flexible racquet or lower string tension can be used until the pain goes away. Hitting technique also is another factor, but lets assume you are a 3.5 or better.

    The 2nd cheapest method is a vibration dampener or forearm brace.

    The inside is just another variation of the tennis elbow BTW prove me wrong by directing me to a site which provides evidence on your so called "golfer's elbow". :lol:

    Also I play golf too and so far I haven't had golfer's elbow so lucky me. :lol:

    Some tips are
    1) Regularly do stretches of the forearm muscles to promote flexibility of the muscles and tendons of the forearm and hand as seen at left. By keeping the elbow straight, stretch the wrist both directions to work the forearm muscles.

    2) Squeeze a tennis ball or some other rubber ball for at least five minutes a day. This can done while driving home from a stressful day at the office or even at work while on the telephone.

    3) Do wrist curls using a very light weight and then do reverse curls of the wrist, all with the elbow straight to work the forearm muscles.

    4) Always stretch before and after playing. If the elbow is sore after playing, ice the area for at least 15 minutes after playing.

    No matter if it is golfer or tennis elbow, the treatment is always the same. Rest.... And later light exercising of the forearm.

    it only hurts when i serve and smash and sometime it also hurts while im practicing my groundstrokes

    oh and the racket that i is the k90 so its stiff and heavy, but i string it at 55

    It could be several things:

    1. Your toss and where you are meeting the ball.

    2. Your head position through the motion and where your arm ends up at contact.

    3. Something else in your technique.

    4. Your racquet/strings.
