So ive been all over the place. had some elbow issues with an apdgt, moved to volkl pb7 (67 rated stiffness) with a TB/vanquish hybrid. Still some pain after alot of playing. demo'd a head speed 300 (about 60 stiffness). the head was even full poly and 10 days, had no pain - with full poly.

So i buy a pair of sped 300's. Had one strung up with tb/vanquish at 57 on the tb mains, and 55 on the vanquish x's. played yesterday and tonight, elbow is screaming now. I like the speed, im connected to it, love it.

Im trying to figure out how with full poly it was more arm friendly than a hybrid. I do not know what the full poly tension was. I know it was a bab string, but dont know which it was, it was black and not shaped. I played it for 10 days without any issues.

I like the shaped poly, but could the TB at 57 with a vanquish at 55 be harsh? I really thought the hybrid would be comfy, but in short time I learned that i was wrong.

Im not sure where to go now, do I go full poly at some lower magic tension or try a hybrid at lower tension?

Im a poly fan and have experienced it without killing my arm. Im not averse to hybrid but i dont want to get into trampoline/control issues with it @ lower tensions in this frame.

would you go with full poly @ really low tensions? (35ish?) or go hybrid but lower than 57/55?

Im looking for any input or suggestions. I love the speed 300s. its comfortable, I was just really shocked by the pain with the tb/vanquish hybrid vs the full poly that i demo'd.

I guess the good news is that i narrowed down my stick selection, but need to find a string combo that will work good with the speed and not hurt me.

I like the idea of the poly/multi hybrid due to the fact the multi will typically break at some point and I wont play too long with poly and get into the 'dead poly' situation. Ive not broken a full poly setup yet, but have broken a hybrid at probably the right time).

So, full or hybrid...and which tension for each??
    speed youtek ig 300s.

    Im all ears...

TB really does need to be below 50. It's an arm killer.

That's what I'm thinking but not sure what to go with.

Sadly, my wife plays tb/vanquish in her pb7s @ 55lbs and has no issues other than breaking the crosses in a few weeks.

Your guess is as good as anybody's. Perhaps the same string combo at 50/55?

Try any poly other than TourBite. Lots of choices that are softer polys. Check the TW reviews.

57/55 is too high IMO. I usually hybrid poly/syn gut around 50-53lbs.

i find the speed to be very soft/comfy, more so than my volkls even. I think i have a string tension threshold in my case, apparently I cant handle a stiff poly too tight.

A stiff racket and stiff strings are causing arm problems? Color me shocked!

Tour Bite Soft is coming out in February. Might be worth a shot since I don't think you'll like my answers to help your arm.

Just out of curiosity, who recommended '57/55'? Normally when you hybrid with a poly, the poly gets the lower tension, not the higher. In your case, since TB was in the mains, I would have expected '55/57', and IMHO, that would have still been too high (assuming your stringer's 55 is my 55).

Working from your numbers, I'd give 52/56 a try & see how it feels.

    correct...the TB @55, multi @57.

Ill try something softer in a lower range and also find out what was in my demo, which was full poly and still felt great.

I've never used it (ringing endorsement, I know), but I have started putting MSV Focus Hex Soft in many of my customer's racquets who used to use Tour Bite, and they seem to like it. May be worth a look.

If this Tour Bite Soft is the same string that we playtested here (TW) in the summer.. it is a winner and my new string. Best poly for my game I have ever used. Can't wait to get a set!!

TB is a stiffer end poly, as others have stated.

You should try Genesis Typhoon, or Polystar Turbo.

The string that was originally on the racquet was probably Sonic Pro Black. That's what Head usually put on those sticks, also a very soft poly.

I normally play Gut/Poly, as I just love the pocketing and comfort, with still easy spin and nice control.

I'm always testing some full poly setups in my backup, and I really like Genesis Typhoon. It's not harsh at all, with some of the best tension stability I've seen in a poly. Spin and control are among the best strings I've used. Instead of crossing it with multi, I'm using very thin & soft 1.15 polys in the cross. That way, string-to-string friction is still low, as with multi crosses you don't get that nice snapback action you get with Gut/poly and full poly. Yet, the feel with a 1.15 cross is almost as soft as having a nylon cross.

Other good soft strings are Polystar Energy and Turbo... but the tension stability is bad after a few hours. I've logged about 7-8 matches on this Genesis setup, and it is still pocketing well with no harshness. Probably will be dead soon, but much better than the usual lifespan I get with full poly.

Solinco strings are meant to be strung low. I'd try it again at somewhere between 38-46. I'd give your arm a rest first.

thanks guys, just played some more, a little better than yesterday.

I'll try out a softer poly on my #2 stick this week. Would doing a softer sting @ 55/52 be somewhat more comfortable over the tb or do i need to go even lower? 38 - 46 sounds really low for a poly/multi hybrid??

That should work with a softer poly. Be sure to string the multi 'higher' than the poly, or in other words, the poly 'lower' than the multi: 52/55, or if you prefer your mains at 55, then 55/57.

I would go 52/55 and see how that feels. If you plan to keep using TB, then you want the mains below 50, trying something like 49/52 with TB.

Trying rpm team @ 52. Haven't hit with it yet.

Any opinions of team @ 52#?

Not a cheap string, I may be about ready to start stinging my own between my obsessive changes and my wife the string breaker.
