Depends what your looking for in a racket. Best thing would be to demo.theyre all quite different rackets.

What should I buy for Christmas? Yonex Ezone Dr 98, Wilson Blade 98 18×20 or Babolat Pure Drive?

What do you currently play with and what are you expecting from the new racquet?

DR 98 is good in all areas; Blade 98 18x20 has more plush feel and control, but low in maneuverability compared to the other two; PD has more power. My pick is DR 98 out of those three, and Blade 98 as the close second.

Considering I know nothing about your playing style etc... I'd go DR98. Best of both worlds, really, and quite in the middle of the road between the Blade and PD.

The racket that has received the most praise out if them is th Dr98, but as I said, it'd be best to demo and see what's best for YOUR game. We can only guess over here.

At least you gave choices. Most people just ask what racquet to get in general and the floodgates open. As others have said, you should really take your time and demo each one as that is the only true way to know unless you have piles of disposable income to throw away.

I'm lovin my DR 98. Extremely versatile and fun to use. I don't know why you wouldn't take your time and demo, but if for some reason you can't...

I am now trying to choose between pure drive and aeropro drive :) . I have a pretty flat two handed backhand and a spinny, pronounced low to high forehand. What do you recomend?

Neither of them. Pd15 has more control and pin to point but it's one of the worst feeling sticks I ve played with....literally no feel it's like hitting with a pan. Apd on the other hand is so difficult to tame its power....if u can't spin the ball then it will fly away but overall i prefer it after some adjustment period. Try the new pure aero which has more feel/plow than both and is more easy to control than Apd.... a baseliners dream. But if you want more power on serves, more control without sacrificing spin and better touch on volleys and drops then Dr is the stick to go with.

The 2013 APD is by far the most forgiving frame I've ever played with. And I'm old :) and have played with a LOT of racquets. You'll hear things like - it's almost like cheating, it makes the game so much easier. You'll also hear about the stiffness but the PD is just as stiff. And - you'll never have a problem selling it, if for some reason it doesn't work for you.... There's a reason it was the biggest selling frame in the world, beyond the fact the Nadal plays with it. Every other manufacturer has tried, unsuccessfully, to copy it. Good luck!

For what it's worth: when I bought the APD, I also demoed the Wilson PS97, the 6.1 95S, the Yonex Ai98, the Head GRadPro and MP, the Babolat Pure Strike 16X19.

DR98 if you like control (great all rounder) and the PD if you want a racket that is full of power and easy to play with. I think the DR98 if you are a 4.5 and up, otherwise the PD.

Pure Aero Tour. Your game seems, from the little you divulged, is similar to mine. I found the control a plus with the PAT. And I demoed the APD also.

If you hit "pretty flat" at all, the Pure Aero won't give you the control of the APD. Just look at the TW and other reviews and comments on the forum.

Be warned; unless one has very strong arms and good stroke mechanics (and play with good strings like nat. gut), eventually the PD/APD type of racquets lead to arm problems like TE, GE etc.

Slightly better option is Pure Aero Tour, and much better are Blade 98 and DR 98 in the arm friendly department.

You don't necessarily need a very strong arm, but you definitely need to adequately strengthen the muscles and tendons in your arms/elbows/wrist in order to prevent injuries like TE, and GE.

To be honest, I don't understand people who have tennis elbow. I have played with the pure drive gt (2009) with full poly at 26 kg- nothing happened. The apd 2010 was my racquet of choice for 4 years, and I was using it with full rpm blast at 26- nothing happened. Tried a Wilson Burn with full poly at 26- again, nothing. I must be special. I can play any racquet with any tension. I have been playing tennis since I was 5 with a coach, now I am 15 and I played like 3-4 times a week 2 hours each day. So I think my technique allows ne to play with any racquet injury free

You might be lucky and not be injury prone. I was much of the same until your age actually, but then I started getting problems with 16/17.

Why not get advice from your coach? Or, alternatively, just take mine :) ...

YOU ARE 15!!! Most of the guys on this board complaining of TE are in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Also, just because something is so for you, don't naturally assume it should be the same for everyone else. Everyone has different technique and different muscles, ligaments and tendons. Just be happy you have no arm issues and stick with what's working for you.

^^^ this

APD can be used effectively by just about anyone. The Pure Aero is more open pattern and more designed for a spinny loopy baseline game. Your flatter backhand will be launching over the baseline. APD offers lots of control when strung with a poly at mid tension.

Had run-ins with elbow issues at 16, and then at 18. 16 was because of bad mechanics after introducing heavier racquets. 18 was because I was trying to rip one handers with a 27.5 inch K95 the first few days of joining club tennis in college in order to impress a girl. Really jarring on the elbow.

True it's different in young age. But what about link between TE and wrong technique (for example not keeping the wrist loose enough while hitting)?
