net measurement

    this is a question that I probley should know..but,how many inches is the net in the middle,....Im always having to fix the nets at my local courts..and do you think a net a couple inches to high will affect play,Like first serves???

    3 feet. Oh yeah a couple inches too high can mean everything. If you serve like I do, where your serves are low and just a couple inches over the net, it can mean the difference between a double fault and an ace. It can screw your volleys, drop shots and so on. I see it as if you were playing basketball and the hoop was raised by a few inches. Your body is used to a certain thing, all that muscle memory has to change to adjust to something different which can throw you off. I've played on nets that are just a bit high and I can see a difference. For the most part it's easy to adjust to, but heck it can mess you up at crucial times. HTH.

    36 inches in the middle, 42 on the ends.
