"The new cushioned acrylic surface will have a different cushioning system, including a lower rubber content, and will be firmer under foot," tournament director Craig Tiley said Wednesday.
So they think this might solve their problem of twisted ankles on their hot and sticky Rebound Ace surfaces these past 9 years? If they really wanted a different surface from the other Slams, just install artificial grass! I know some of you guys hate that stuff, but I've played on it in the hot summertime with no problems, with true bounces! (Aw, hell, just go back to real grass....)

They should make the Aussie Open "The Peoples Tournament"

Make them play on crappy asphalt courts with holes and bumps, spray-painted lines and ripped nets. Change the height of the net throughout the match from stupidly low to extremely high and get rid of the ball kids... they're big boys, they can pick up their own tennis balls!

Bring those players back to the real world!
