When stringing a new Brand racket is there much tension loss do to the grommets seating? If using a crank machine should you double pull to prevent this if so?

Any concerns with a new racket?

dude.... you don't know the can of worms you just opened up..... :)

some say you do need to increase the tension about 2lbs with a new racquet, others don't.

I have a constant pull machine so I don't increase tension or double pull.... If I had a lock out machine like yours I'd be more inclined to pull each individual string twice at reference tension to insure that the grommet/grommets is/are fully seated.

Most new rackets have flared grommets. They are seated at the factory. Though some are not flared and you need to watch they don't "pop" out while pulling tension. I usually have problems with some Wilson frames at the lower outside yoke. Because of the angle going from the inside of the frame to the outside is like a "Z", it wants to pull the grommet out. You just have to be careful to keep the grommet from pulling out.

The other concern is the over lap of the head guard and the side grommet. I like to use a double back cross to keep the ends of the grommet from sticking out.
