When you see a new racquet a a shop, it usually comes with plastic on the handle and that paper card with some info, photos and ads. How much does that weight? Is it the same as strings, so you actually get a good idea of balance by holding it? I weighted an Yonex Ultimum RD TI 80 today and it was 343g with plastic and card... I fear that the strings will add many grams there, but the seller said they weighted about the same, strings and card. It matches TW's specs, but I don't want to go much over the high 340s with new grip.

I just went upstairs and weighed a set of 17ga. syn. gut and a piece of cardboard about the size and thickness of one of those that goes into a new racquet. They weighed exactly the same.

I've measured a couple of the cards that come with Wilson racquets and they are right around 15 grams.

    thanks a lot!
Just to clarify, I'm not worried if it would be 2 or 3g apart, my fear was that there would be a significant 10, 15 or who knows hom many grams, that there would be no relation at all.

So by using 16 gauge string (the only ones cheaply available here) it should go up a little but not 10g or so as I feared.
