new string shelf life?

    anyone know if new string in the package has a shelf life or not...this would be synthetic or multi or poly stirings...not gut

    maybe for multis, but probably not for synthetics or polys unless ur talking on the order of years...
    in my experience, the sets of multis that havent been used for months tend to be darker than usual (like brown), but have no real difference in play or durability.

    If strings are kept in their original sealed package in a cool, dark place and away from heat and direct sunlight, they should last for several years for your personal use, even nat gut. I try to keep my string inventory fresher than that though(under 1 year is what I shoot for).

    I have reels of Ashaway Kevlar, Forten Nylon, generic multi etc. All from 1999.

    They act like brand new.

    I store my strings in a bed room closet. Dark and 20 C.
