New Wilson Federer Racquet Teaser Video

Discussion in 'Pros' Racquets and Gear' started by srvnvly, Oct 5, 2009.

  1. It will probably also include some red and white, which i like, since its the colours of the Swiss flag.

the roman numeral for 10 is X so when the commercial says 20X it means the new line will come out next year

I think the reason the K90 didn't really work as a great paint job (it was good but not great in my opinion), is it had too much white in it, and too much complicated detail!

Black and Red, and even yellow can work really well together as seen in the PS Tour 90 and the HPS 6.0 Tour. I havn't seen the video, but if the racquet has more blocks of colour and less white, it might well be better than K90!

So from what I can make out with all the different players in that vid. All the new frames and models will have the same paint job? No?

Just seems strange that it appears that they are all using the same frame..

    That's the worst part!

Imagine the name on those rackets! It's gotta be disgusting. And if he was 100% right, who wants to call their racket the Frequency X Six.One Tour?! I am outraged! I'd rather it be officially labeled the BLX Tour 90 and the BLX Tour 95.

Who cares about the label. It's minutia. What matters is how it plays, then in a distant second the paint job.

"Frequency X Six.One Tour" is better than "K Factor Six.One Tour" in my opinion!

Lke I said before they can't call it the the BLX (Bollocks) Tour 90 or the X Factor Six.One Tour surely:)

And everyone is going to be calling it the X90 anyway!

Its black on one side of the throat and red on the other. Terribly ugly. I guess you could get one and spray paint it black if you were too embarassed to play with it.

EXACTLY RIGHT! I want a 6.0 90! Wilson, enough w/these stupid videos. Make a decent racquet replacement for the 6.0! It will be your best seller ever!

OK so they'll paint Roger's and Delpo's racquet a new color and resell it under the '20% better' advertising scheme we've seen since ad agencies started measuring "progress" back in the 80's.

Hate to be cynical, but who cares? 3.0 players will remain 3.0 players.

I hope the 90 is not that shiny paint. I like the matted colors better on the mid-size racquets. but yes, it does look like they all have the shiny painted racquet.

maybe the BLX 90 will be that racquet closer to the spec of the PS85 and that is why the K88 is specked for a reason (not to compete with the new 90).

The BLX 90, they just cannot call it that!

    Can you imagine the advertising:

"Buy the BLX 90, it's the racket with balls":)

(BLX is abbreviation for Bollocks in UK)

They would need to sign Hans Blix of the UN and James Blake. Too easy.

Right, jonny. Stay calm, I just thought it looked like 30X. People get a bit weirdly hyped over these things. I'm kind of disappointed in the new paint scheme. :-?

Yes. Exactly. I must have some BLX / 20X in my tennis bag. Now. It will help my game and my life.

It's like NBC News' slogan from a couple of yrs ago:
    Now More Than Ever.

Ohhhh, so important. So good for our souls.

    Please.

So if you used the Hyper Carbon tour 90 then switched to the N-code which improved your game by 20% then switched to KFactor which improved your game by 20-30%. I guess you will be about 75% better now that you have switched to BLX. And if you switch in 3 more years you are 100% better am I right? Wilson MUST use some magic paint on those 90 frames!

So is it true that Wilson have named their racket BLX?

    Honestly I cannnot believe it!

It is so ironic, as most new racquets are complete bollocks, but the only one called BLX is actually a good racquet:)

Man, and I thought I didn't like the k90 cosmetics. For me, that blx90's a harder pill to swallow!

It looks like someone took the k90 to a toilet and gave it a swirly.

I still think that the pressure to come up with new cosmetics every couple of years is partly due to the major companies warding off counterfeiters.

I think the cosmetics of the BLX is like a mix of the Wilson Ncode Tour 90 with the Kfactor 90...

I like it more than the K90. However, the N90 and Hyper Tour 90 still have the best paintjobs of recent years, in my view. The PS85 is too boring, although its clean classic look does count for something I guess.

I'm not too hot on this paintjob. Not the worst thing I've ever seen, but I would say I like the KFactor paintjob better. Could be different in person. I'm looking forward to trying this new frame. I'm curious to see how much better the performance from the KSix.One Tour 90 could actually be!

Haha. I know how you feel man. I wonder how many people here will switch anyway just cause Federer actually uses it (or will he stick with a K90 under his paintjob like he has done for the past 7-8 years?).

Actually it looks more like a ProStaff Tour with red on it in my opinion, or a ProStaff Tour mixed with a nSix.One Tour actually...

That picture actually makes it look 10 times better! (Maybe because they made the black side far more noticeable and the red side almost unnoticeable) Now if they could just replace that red with black and the white with red (which in turn will be replaced with black), except for maybe the part at the top of the hoop, made the inside of the hoop either white or gold (like the ProStaff Tour was yellow on the inside), and put a badass looking "PS" in the top of the hoop, then they'll have a kickass paintjob! Although, they will be easier to copy as VGP noted.

It if lost the red and white, I think it'd actually be pretty badass. Predominantly black goes pretty well on the ProStaff rackets.

Oh, and that white line separating the red and the black HAS to go. Especially if we go through with replacing the red with black. :) I actually kinda liked it when Wilson put their logo down there.
