I've seen some interest in the new lines of racquets coming out. I've posted specs on the new sampras racquet in their respective forums, but I have the 2009 catalogue sitting in front of me. Here are 3 new players frames wilson will be releasing in 2009

    [K]obra Tour
    [K]obra Team FX
    [K]Pro Team FX

if enough people ask real nicely I will post the specs for each racquet and let the debates begin..

i don't have much on the FX technology, but the other team racquets I saw (blade, tour, two, and four) all had slits in the throat (picture o3 technology in the throat). We have a brochure on it, so when I am able to snag that from management, I will post more on that topic. Pics to come when I get around to signing up for a pics website. The [K]obra is a SWEET looking stick

yea it's a little light for a tour racquet but there are a lot of tournament players going in that direction. Real fast swings (a la Nadal) are starting to get more people thinking about going in the lighter direction..

the pureists wont do it this way, but to each his own

and it's only listed on the "players frames" pages of the catalogues... and in all fairness, the [K] surge is the last stick on that list and I do not consider it a player's frames

    Agree with you
They don't seem as players frames, but as rockets launchers.
Specs are not interesting for me
is it possible that wilson make a news 6.1 line (future of kfactor) for australian open (because the frame was created two years ago)?

The Tour looks similar to DNX9 and the FX team sounds like a APD/PD.

    Do they have PWS?

These racquets are not substantial enough to be real player's rackets, maybe top-level juniors or the chick tour, that's it. I'm assuming another knock off babolat PD as fore-mentioned. You just don't make 'em like you used to, Mr. Wilson. Which leads me to ask...

??? What Happened to the F$!?!!? ProStaffs ??? <--- that should be it's own thread.

I think Wilson is trying to cover all segments; one hopes they don't lose focus on producing quality player frames.

For those that think these are too light remember that overgrip and damper add .7 ozs. That's been my experience with published specs and the Babolat PDC and PDR, Yonex 002T and 001 MP, Wilson K95 and Dunlop m-fil 300.

No chance. Strings + OG + dampener all together add 0.6 oz as per my measurements.

I have a Kblade 98 4 5/8 grip and it weighs 10.9 ounces unstrung. Strung, leather grip, and overgrip weighs 11.9 ounces. So I think with an overgrip and leather the Kobra easily will be 12.2 ounces. Beam (26) seems a little thick to me, should play close to the original Wilson Surge, which was the best in that series.

My experience with several different frames from several manufacturers suggests otherwise. The 2 PDRs ended up at 12.4 oz as did the Yonex 001 MP. These are both listed at 11.7 strung. The 2 K95s came in at 12.8 and 13oz. As I recall they were listed at 12.1 strung. I don't recall the weights of the other rackets I mentioned as its been some time, but my results have been consistent at .5-.7 ozs over published spec after OG and damper. I suppose it could be my scale.

Someone PLEASE post pics of the (K)obra Tour. Based on the specs of this frame, how will it play in comparison to my K Tours (95 Henin) in which I have leaded tthem up to 11.2-11.4 somewhere there.

I would like to make a switch so I would like to know. I know there is good advice and knowledge distributed on these boards so I am hoping that smoeone can distinguish the similarities of the two frames (k tour 95 and kobra tour) based on the specs of the kobra tour.

the Kobra tour would have been really appealing if it was a 18 x 20 stringbend, with a 20mm beam width. the thick beam is a really big turn-off. goodbye wilson :)

still barely modern players category possibly

11.5 and 11.1 are reasonable wts. The third one is too light. If it's too light you could add some lead and its in yalls player category. They may be rocket launchers for you guys but they aren't for Andreev, Roddick, Moya, Clisters, Lopez ( k pro open ) and others who use PD type racquets which these new Wilsons look like they are. They I'm sure lead all those up someway to balance and more heft however they want but they do use those type racquets.

A fullpoly or hybrid to me, help control the power and create great spin.

Grip and type swing have a lot to do with how someone can play with the stiffer more powerful player racquets these days.

The medium power on these do seem to be more than the normal low-med that PD , PDR and k Pro Open are usually listed as so would love to hit with one and try it.Currently play w/ PDR mains 63 PHT/ crosses xcel or I'm experimenting w PHT full job at 62. If I was younger would probably play with that setup but at 51 my arm likes the hybrid better. I do agree those type racquets can launch the ball strung with a soft string at a low or even mid tension.

I'm meeting the Wilson rep next wednesday as I took a tennis director/ head pro position and they use wilson balls so will meet w/ him first. He said they had some new frames coming out and he was gonna bring a couple out so I guess I'll have one in my hand next week. I hit with BB pro listed as medium and it felt nice after I leaded it up but was strung loose with a multi so couldn't really tell how it played. Ideally I think I would like something between the PDR and aeropro drive. I'll get back on this thread if I get to hit with em and let yall know how it went.

I hit with top jrs at newks and have no problem controlling the ball.

What did the peanut butter say to the jelly??

    get off me slimeball
