:?: I am new to tennis and TW. I am looking for my first racquet, and stumbled into the term 'level'. How does that describe a player? What level would I be having gone through an eight-hour beginners' course? 1.0? I was complimented as moving well on the court. Have played several years of badminton and some of squash, so I have some eye for the ball. Of course, my technique for tennis is limited yet. Cheers, henrikk

    I agree

I think the descriptions for each level are very general guidelines. Anyone who self rates themselves based on reading the descriptions usually rates themselves much higher than their actual ability.

When you first start playing tennis it really doesn't matter what is your rating. Just play to get the ball in play and be consistent.

If you start playing regularly you should be able to get to 3.0 level pretty fast. Ratings really only seem to matter when you start playing leagues and tournaments.
