Nope, he wore the blue vapor's and also the complete whites. See for yourself on gettyimages.;) Maybe he wore them later that year, but not at the Aussie Open.

Federer wore the black ones with a white stripe and a gold Nike swoosh at the 2005 U.S. Open:

I think they're seriously the best looking shoes ive ever seen. I ha ve a pair sitting here in mint condition, and the matchign 05 black power polo (fed's aussie polo). I'm saving them for a grudge match this summer against one of my best friends. I'm plannin on making it a gruelin 5 setter and we're both big servers, so i wanna find a grass court...

Nike used to be so fashionable. Now their stuff is just... ugly.

For an opposing viewpoint, personally I've always found the Vapor Speeds to be one of the ugliest and cheapest looking shoes ever. The uppers look and feel like they're made of a thin cardboard. The fit is atrocious and my toes jam into the the front of the shoe every time I stop. For the life of me I can't understand why so many people love this shoe. Is it all just because Federer wore them?

No, for me it is just because they look so nice!
I bought the shoe 2 weeks ago, until now i didn't wear them, so i don't know how the fit is for my feet and so on....
I wore them a few hours at home, just in the living room, i must say the cushioning is pretty well.:D
