Yea when i saw this at the OZ open i could not believe someone ranked this high did not have a clothing sponsor. I'm sure it will come very soon, just like Blake having to go without a racket sponsor for a while.

He's wearing Prince from head to toe. His racquet, clothing, shoes...........its all Prince stuff. The deal started with just the racquet but once he got into the top 10, Prince signed him to a contract to use everything with their name on it. The logos on his Prince clothing are hard to discern, but the shoes and the hat are a dead giveaway. This was discussed several months ago after Davydenko signed with them...............he's one of the only pros wearing Prince stuff(besides JM Gambill)

In front of my computer, obviously
Jordan Kerr also wears Prince clothing, but he's a doubles player so no one notices (which is a shame because he's one of the best looking guys on tour).

Davydenko wears prince clothing, his clothing is on this site. The clothing is very plain looking. I actually thought about ordering some of the shirts and shorts davydenko wears from TW, but im not sure.

The hat he wore against Fed in the quarters was not from Prince. Its a generic Aus Open cap that I've seen other players wear too.

I'd love to see a top player refuse any and all clothing sponsorships from major sportswear companies on ethical grounds.

And I felt kinda sad when Davydenko's cheering section was...his brother/coach. That was about it. :(

i know this is an old thread but i didnt want to start a new one as my post is more relevant in general to davydenko and the whole clothing sponsors...

    check out this picture

from browsing the picture gallery it seems as if davydenko is wearing unbranded clothing, at least no logo's present, and ....

what shoes is he wearing? they look like nike's but i'm not sure which...

I'll probably regret it but - which 'ethical' grounds would those be?

Sponsorships are not just about ranking. For example, Paradorn Srichaphan gets paid millions of dollars in endorsement money. Far more than many players ranked much higher than him. But then he is practically a God in Asia. Some players have charisma, some don't. The ones who do get paid for it, the rest don't. It is no longer automatic that a high ranked player will get endorsements.

It is true. Capitalism after all. Using your example, I call Srichaphan has higher "market value" than Davydenko does, although the former is ranked much lower.
It is not really a rare scene.

In soccer, David Beckham used to be among the top 3 highest paid soccer stars, although there are many players who are much better than him in skills.

In F1, Ralf Schumacher also paid much more than other better drivers, simply because he also carries his elder brother's surname.

Back to tennis, Roddick and Sharapova may not play the best in tennis, but both of them may get endorsed and paid much higher, because Roddick is American and has a big market. Sharapova has the pretty face to impress, even if she is not the No 1.

In his recent interview in AO, he said he has recently signed a clothing contract with AIRNESS ( a french sportwear brand ). So I guess we shall be seeing him in Airness clothes this year in the coming tournaments.
