Could be a classic. You're right.

Thrilled to see Nishikori doing well, but he has time.

    Can't root against Ferru.

I thought Bagdahtis - Ferrer was going to be great. I'm skeptical.

Yeah, Nishikori beat Ferrer in 2008 US Open as a teenager.

If he didn't have that nagging knee injury, Kei could have been much better player by now...

I'm taking KNish in a long, high-quality 5-setter. Could be the match of the tourney!

Unless Nishikori has a brain cramp. Otherwise, this is going to be pretty.

It was great. Ferru played some beautiful points, and Baghy is usually very tough to beat, and a Melbourne favorite to boot.

It was just short, that's all.

Wow, Nishikori has the most visible straps and tapes on his body than anyone else in the tournament.

Right wrist, left knee, right ankle. Who knows how much more is underneath his clothes?

Nishikori has already begun the match very impressively. That jumping backhand is reminiscent of Nalbandian.

I think Ferrer wins, but this is far more realistic than Kei "taking out the trash".

And the shotmaking is awesome from both guys!

    Nishikori, en fuego.

Seems like he has more pop on the 1st serve and don't remember him having the nice biting slice BH.

And if it's true that Nishikori can only go just under three hours, he's toast.

Ferrer's warmups probably last that long.

Yeah but he's apparently playing on a "2:47" hours limit, hahaha. Every once in a while, tennis commentators can be funny.

If Ferrer discovers that, he'll make sure the first set lasts that long.

BG was being semi-serious. And probably forgot last yr's 5 setter where KN outlasted Tsonga. KN gets injured quite a bit - not the same as inadequate fitness.

Maybe he'll start a conversation with Brad Gilbert on the sideline?

Ferrer: "Hey, how fit is this guy?"
    BG: "2:47"
Ferrer: "I'll channel my inner Giles Simon."

More cool pts in this match than the previous Betty match.

Ferrer is getting to net more.

Nish just missed an easy FH.
