    So which player shows up?

Stanimal who looks to be focused, powerful, and paints the corners? or the one who get's rattled and swings with no abandon?

Kei with the eye on the prize look or the one who puts his head down (especially on the 1st serve)?

Not off the serve but he can match him off the ground and Nishikori is quicker. Should be a good match if Nishikori is good to go.

People are exaggerating about Nishikori's health. HE will have enough time to recover.

GOATrinka in 3 if Nishikori plays like he played against Raonic in first 2 sets.
Nishikori in 4 against Wawrinka if he bring his past form. Stan is too inconsistent to maintain his GOAT level.

If both are on, this could become an enchanting ball bashing saga but if both are off, this could turn out to be a crap-fest.

This could be very entertaining! Two of the hardest hitters on the tour as of now! I am hoping for winners galore!...And Wawrinka in 4.

I'm thinking Stan in 4 - he'll be annoyed with himself at his form thus far in the tournament and come out blazing as he knows he's been rather lucky to get this far with the inconsistency he's displayed so far. Doesn't really matter how kei is playing... Its all about Stan's head.

My point was only in reply to the statement "seemed fine" or something along those lines. When we are performing optimally the adrenaline can play tricks on us and we also seem stronger to others.

Djokovic is 15-3 against Wawrinka, 14-1 in their last 15. But he is tied 1-1 against Nishikori, and got bageled the last time they played on HC.

I am not so sure a healthy Nishikori isn't a tougher opponent for Novak than Wawrinka.

True, but I still am not so confident in Nishikori's fitness. He looked pretty much exhausted in that post match press conference. If he were to be fully fit then I can see him beating Wawrinka and have his chances against Djokovic, but now I'm wondering what will be left of him if he somehow goes through Wawrinka.

True enough, but those h2h numbers doesn't tell the full story, and i'm supposing you know it. Wawrinka has pushed Novak to the brink several times at the hard court slams now, including beating him at his best slam.

The fact is Wawrinka has proved himself against the top dawgs at the slams, while Nishikori hasn't (at least not to the same degree). So while Nishikori could potentially trouble Novak, chances are undeniably higher of the Stanimal being able to do it.

On the match: High hopes for this one. Two of the finest ballstrikers on tour should provide some tantalizing rallies with lots of offensive play. Hoping Nishikori is fit, and that Stan is mentally in it.

Prediction: Stan the Man in four sets.

Stan is the favorite but if Kei is playing well, he can eliminate the Swiss from the Open.

If Nishikori has recovered well (which is questionable, to say the least) then I give him a good shot at beating Stan. His baseline game is obscene right now, he hits the ball cleaner than anyone but Djokovic at the moment.

Stan games are impossible to predict. If he's on he'll win otherwise it could get ugly for him as well.

There's always the possibilty of a Nishikori retirement as well of course!

True, but given the Nishi 5-setter gotta roll with him.

The other choices are Berdych, not exactly the model of consistency either, or giving up a title chance by rolling with Fed or Novak early to try to survive longer.

Yeah well I don't have the Berdych option or even the Cilic option. So that basically left me with kei and Stan and Stan is 2-0 in the head to head and should be more rested.

Stan generally returns pretty badly (not like Raonic, but generally just chips it in) though, so I'm not sure he will take full advantage of Nishikori's fairly average serve.

Nishikori looks pretty flat. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a steamroll.

Side note, I'm beginning to think Wawrinkas backhand isn't as godly as people make it out to be. It's definitely top tier, but what I notice is that he has one beast of a forehand now - edit - and a darn good serve too.

Y'know it just hit me that if Nishikori were to win this match. We could legitimately have a Cilic v Nishikori final. Djokovic and Murray is unlikely to be straight sets for either, Monfils might even push Federer to 5 too. How awesome would that be?
