    They were never offered in the states, well until now, with the Nissan GTR.
    There was never a GTR43, There was a GTR 34 if thats what you meant. The older skylines came in rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. Very popular in drifting. Nissan even released a v-spec GTR which put a Ferrari Enzo to shame, but they only made like 150 of them.

    skylines come with an rb26 engine, which is a 2.6 liter v6, both these cars can easily make 300hp, but the factory put them at 276hp

    I don't like the look of the new Skyline. I much prefer the R34 which is pretty much my dream car.

    is a 1989 skyline gtr
    with 133,000kms on OEM cluster( what is OEM cluster?)
    a good deal for $10,900 CAN?

    cuz he has 3 other skylines and this one looks the best and i am jjust asking for second opions cuz people who tries to sell cars always say their cars are good
    and here is the other specs that i have no idea what they mean

    Auction Grade 3 car
    133,000kms on OEM cluster
    Timing Belt changed @ 80,000kms
    Mismatched rims 17" Whites/Stockers

    if he's already got a boost controller on it that means the cars making some pretty big power, which means he's messed around with the engine and turbo, which is why he upgraded the intercooler

    the suspension of the car doesnt seem to be too bad and he has all the gauges that a tuner car has so its definately a good deal

    to clear up a few misconceptions first, skylines are not illegal, just not sold here. The engine did make over 300hp, but due to japanese emissions standards, nissan had to under-estimate the power in order to sell it. An OEM cluster i believe means that he has not touched the gauge 'cluster', meaning all the guages are stock and have not been reset or replaced. He seems to have put a lot of stuff to help with a car with a turbo (blow off valve aka BOV, and intercoolers as well as boost controller) but does not mention the turbo in the list. He lists like 3 different boost controllers/timers and i see no mention of what turbo he has in the car. It does seem like it may make some very good power though.

    i don't know what that is
    he doesn't keep the car he just import from japan and sell them here
    he is keeping one r32 and doing a r34 conversion which is gonna make it look like the car from 2 fast 2 furious

    ask him he will know. basically the ecu is like the cpu of a computer-it makes it so the car knows what car it is and what it can do. you can map the ecu differently so your car behaves differently. ie if you turbo your car you need to rewire the ecu so the car can recognize is now 'better' than before and take advantage of the change, in this case the turbo.

    and as others pointed out, the car can do 300hp, but its not-because the ecu is set so it doesnt, even though teh engine is capable. hope that makes it clear.

    he said that its a MINES tune ECU
    which is famous in japan.. but needs high octane to respond well in Canada.. japan uses 100 octane for standard tune.

    thats a good ECU, also ask ur friend if he can override it for you, then you are able to max out your car without having a limiter on it

    there are a couple of companies that import them here in the US. I forget the names of the companies right now but the cars are expensive. I was stationed in Japan though and saw quite a few skylines. I worked with a guy that stayed in Japan for awhile after he got out of the Marines and he bought a R33 (forget the year) for about $3500.

    i think skylines are kinda like civics here. they are hugely popular for underground races

    the R33 GTR and V-Spec came with RB26DETT.
    the R33 GTS-T came with the RB25DET.
    the R33 GTS came with the RB25DE.

    alot of "hardcore" skyline fans would prefer the R32 GTR over the R34 GTR. then again, a decent R32 GTR would be 10+ years old.

    RB = Race Bred (Nissan naming thing)

    RB26DETT = (R)ace (B)red, 2.6 litre, (D)ouble Twin cam, (E)lectronic fuel injection (T)win (T)urbo
    RB25DET = 2.5 litre single turbo
    RB25DE = 2.5 twin cam (non-turbo)

    (there are also RB20 variants... but no RB20DETT)

    Although, I don't know much about the cars, I am originally from Japan, and I agree that the R32 was the most popular one for GT-R followers among all.

    I couldn't find much, but something like below...still looks nice.

    1) Nissan Skylines are actually legal in the US. A company called Motorex has imported in roughly 200 skylines.
    2) Infiniti has come out with a Skyline that is being sold in America. It is the Infiniti G35 or in Japan the Nissan Skyline 350GT.
    3) Infiniti is Nissan!
    4) Stop watching 2 Fast 2 Furious...

    hey i hear the nex evolution X is nice, but as for performance wise its still not as nice as the evolution VIII and IX, tho i personally like the XIII, but back to the point, because of all the new features of the new X which makes it more luxurious, all these luxury things hinder the performance and add on weight, also the new X doesnt have the raw feeling of power and control as the VIII and IX

    Just to correct one thing the rb26dett is a inline six and not a v6, and the cars are restricted to 276 because of some gentleman rule that japan had earlier.
