:!:Before being attacked by Federer fans, I clearly state that I am a Federer fan!!! But...

Yesterday I watched the match against Ferrer and he was really not at his level. His service was shocking especially in the first set and he didn't appear to be too much alive. Actually he seems to be bother by something (what?)

    http://newyork.tennistonic.com/view...alifies-for-the-2012-WTF-semifinals---youtube

    http://www.tennis.com/news/2012/11/federer-tops-ferrer-reach-london-semifinals/40061/#.UJxlPIekqcs

I do not think he has any chances to defeat either Djokovic or Murray (let alone back to back both of them in the semis and final) as they are too solid at the moment.

    Any opinion?
    -----------------------------
Of course if Roger wins the WTF (I hope so) this will be the most unpopular (or popular?) thread in here...

It is up to him. As he often says, winning or losing is in his hands and he singlehandedly decides the outcome.

You are probably right, as Nole and Murray look to be in very good form at the moment. But I urge you not to give up on Roger. He can produce moments of brilliance which, in a 2 out of 3 set match, can just turn suddenly in his favour. He may be saving his best form for later in the tournament. Just continue to support him, win or lose, :)

What has happened to federer recently!!! He usually wins all the titles thats what made me stop watching tennis recently. He really has to step up his game, once Rafa Nadal gets back its going to be much harder for Feds.

I was at the Murray and Djokovic match, neither played that well I don't think.

I think Federer has a great chance against them both, the court is also pretty quick, which will help him.

Hasn't anybody learned never to count out Federer? Especially on an indoor court. Seriously, come on now.

He just played a bad match and still won. He has another match to get a grove before the semi's. He will be fine. It will give him confidence as he knows he played garbage ball and still beat the #5 guy.

Weren't these the same boards that said Federer wouldn't be able to win a slam in 2012?

And they were right to say it, considering how federer played vs that french choker. The only thing that saved federer at Wimbledon was djokovic's poor play, Nadal's injury and Murray's nerves.

You're probably right, but don't quit on him just yet. Besides, even if he doesn't win this tournament he has still had a fantastic year that his fans should be thrilled about.

Yeah, it seemed to me like they struggled to get to grips with the pace of the court. Murray seemed late on alot of things and missed long, even in rallies he wasn't timing it as well as he usually does and Djokovic used that to come into the net, where he won alot of points.

The drama of the match was great, sure, but the quality wasn't that high.

Yea I agree, Fed can't beat Murray/Djokovic in this form. The Olympics basically ruined his season(USO onwards).

For a round robin match, he played pretty well. His serve was off, but it didn't matter.

He stepped on the gas when he needed to in set #1, and was just steady enough in set two, to hold off Ferrer, who was playing reasonably well.

I don't think he wanted to lay it all down in the round robin stages. That being said, Djokovic and Murray will be tough, and Fed will have to serve well, and not lose focus at all.

Well anything's possible but of course he's not the favorite this year. His last three tournaments ended w/ losses to Berd, Murray and Delpo, unlike the previous two years when he came on on winning runs w/ tons of confidence/momentum.

He will almost certainly be the underdog in his semi-final match.

    huge federer fan here.

my thoughts... I don't think he wins this tournament as I seriously doubt he has the hunger/motivation.

If Murray/Djoker also aren't burning with passion to win it and don't bring their "A" game, then Roger might put everything he's got into winning.

If they come strong, he's not going to put his body on the line to win.

You can just tell when Federer REALLY wants it.. like in that match against DelPo at the Olympics to make sure he got a medal. He wanted that, he wasn't going to give up.

I have not seen that sense of urgency from him since that match.

I'm not certain we see that level of urgency anytime soon... unless he starts another drought and people write him off again.

I watched his match with Ferrer, and all I can say is that Ferrer is a loser. Before the match, he explained why he had never beaten Federer and was all praise for him. In the match, Federer made shocking mistakes, could not prevail in backhand to backhand rallies, shanked balls - and ended up winning.

This is just not going to work against the big 3.

I may be wrong, but when Fed has poor serves and plays like that, he is tired, it reminded me of his match at the Olympics against Murray.

These guys are incredible, to be up all the time, in shape, rested, is very hard. I think this is why Tennis is so inconsistant. You look at boxing champions and they go undefeated or it's a huge deal if they lose one match, not the best analogy I understand but even Nadal complained about the players grueling schedules.

So I'd chalk it up to fatigue, even Fed hinted he's a bit burned out.

I don't know about you, but when I'm nervous, on, in shape, I feel "unbeatable". When I'm tired and uninterested or unmotivated I play like garbage, it's amazing the difference.

I agree that Federer is not on top form at the moment but at the wtf he always has a chance. Fed often saves his best tennis for when it matters most. I think if he can beat Murray he has a good hance of winning the final.

Serving 40% first serve percentage like he did against Ferrer is not going to cut it :(

Something seems very off about him. He is lucky that he got a kind group with Ferrer and Tipsy in it.

0 chance is an exaggeration especially in an event that he has won 6 times already. I agree that if Djoko and Murray play their best, it's gonna be an uphill struggle for Fed (even if he manages to beat 1 of the 2). If he's a bit lucky though (like Ferrer making the final omg, even Delpo making the final or Murray panicking or Djoko hurting himself or something), he'll have an excellent chance. (Well, in the Ferrer scenario, he'd even have a 100% chance).

He should not have played the Olympics. I felt like he got an injury in that semi-final against Del Potro or maybe got drained mentally so much that he has never recovered ever since.

He played like crap in the Olympic final against Murray, was very mediocre at the USO, bombed from Shanghai, lost Basel, skipped Paris and now struggled against Ferrer of all people. He now looks like a broken laptop battery - he seems to be at 100% in the first match after charging, then quickly drops to 5% (which is still enough to beat most of the field, lol) until someone real from top 10 relieves the undead from this misery.

He does have a chance, but only if he withdraws from the next match against Del Potro. That is not happening though. If I were him and had to play, I would adopt an extremely aggressive style, going for winners, S&V'ing, just working on those elements of his game that he feels are off.

i think federer just floated through the match.. i mean the h2h was 13-0..fed was thinking to himself 'i just have to turn up..i cant lose'

also he stepped it up at the end of both sets when he needed to just to av oid the bother of a bothersome 3rd set.

I thought he was good in the Ferrer match. Delpo match did show he is not playing well enought to win.

You can see the Fed camp....they were worried as if there was something wrong with Federer.

Sucks but I have to go against Federer winning this event....it gonna be another borefest of Murray Djokovic.

    slim chances.

federer in 2009 still was pretty good.

he is going through a bad patch now after the usopen.

that loss to berdych hurt...and getting decimated by murray in shanghai didnt help.
