The 5 million Head paid Novak to use the new racket is not worth it, he would be lucky to win a match on the WTA tour with that racket.

If I were him, I would do what Safin did, and say I can't play with this piece of S33$. He is no longer competive in the top 25.

I knew the hate would flow in this spoiler of a thread considering the match was televised and people could have recorded it.

The OP's argument eludes me. If Head made a lousy racquet for the guy, they should pay him MORE money for continuing to use it and damage his ranking.

gee bar, truth be told, he's probably more likely than not using the same racquet he used when he was with wilson (which if you read other posts on this topic, you'll read that the consensus was he was using a custom head racquet with a wilson pj).

so it's really likely its the same racquet he won the 08 ao with. that means the racquet isn't the problem. if i had to guess, i'd say the problem is between his ears.

if anything is gonna give any money back, maybe nole's brain should issue his behind a refund check.

p.s. this prolly isn't a good place to post match results.

What a bunch of nonsence (OP).
Roddick has been playing great lately, he's been in top of shape and IMO he was a favorite before the match. Novak did not improve at all since second half of 2008 with Wilson or Head...

BTW, he did beat a few top players lately (Simon, Ferrer, Cilic...) so, the WTA comment makes the OP look really stupid...

He's definitely having tough time these days and hopefully will return to more competitive form soon. However, currently, he's still clearly the top 10 player on the tour...

There are worse things than losing to Roddick. Just ask Nadal in a couple of days.

Did you watch the match? Could you see how he was holding up on his shots, lack of confidence? Very apparent, this new frame is not working out for him.

He is really struggling, doubt he will remain in the top 20 by year end. He must have made 40 unforced errors. To bad, he is an excellent player, just not with the Head Crappy frame, but I guess 5 million is a lot of money and Head needs someone.

Head goes to Novak and say "We want to sponsor you"

Novak says "Recreate this frame I'm using right now and I'll play under the Head name"

= Racquet not any different :)

    Did you???
He had 29 UE, not 40.

He's just having a down period that most likely will cause him to drop a few spots if it lasts. Out of top 20??? Nonsence. He's still in the top 10 easily.

Fed had a slow down period last year, he faked Mono and blamed it for it. Later it was "proven" not to be true. Novak is blaming the racket...

Anyway, no points to defent in Miami, therefore, he will get back whatever he lost at IW, the second part of the year favors him, ranking (points) wise...

can't he just get the wilson rackets he use to use and put a speedpro pj on it? I mean the mold is similar so many wont notice it.

Not entirely. He's from my motherland, so...
Other than that, he plays for himself, and the money goes to his pocket...

I am just looking into this realistically ,not from the fan (hater) point of view...

Out of 20 is a nonsence because currently there are 5 or 6 Pros performing better than him, that is all

Well, while Rafa, Fed, Roddick and others were working hard in the odd season, Novak was partying...

It is not only that he's playing worse as the others improved...
Roddick is definitely playing his best tennis in a long time, Fed is definitely better than last year, Tsonga too...

IMO, Djokovic doesn't feel secure with his new racquet, saw him at IW couple of times. Even in practice session, he doesnt have the "right" strokes, like year before. He should stay with the old Wilson (even I personally don't like Wilson products).

So since no one has really brought this up here goes. Novak was playing with a Head frame as he was coming up. Wilson paid him to go with them so he did, only Wilson basically made him his same Head frame with a Wilson PJ. Now he is back with Head very likely still playing with the same old Head frame he came up with. If he really did make a switch then IMO that was a foolish move. Top players do just about anything they can to not change their frame once they achieve top rankings. IMO he is still using the same old stick but has too much going off court and between his ears and that is the source of his issues. He may be tremendously tallented but mentally I don't think he has what it takes to really be at the top of the game.

Actually, this has been discussed on the forum.
Your first part is OK, but this is NOT the same frame, just SpeedPro PJ. This is definitely a different frame. Foolish or not -- time will tell (not 3 months that just passed). I am sure Head made this frame with Novak's inputs so... And I am quite sure that is is fairly similar to his previous frame (but not the same)

well if the racquet underneath isnt really the same, then why would he switch? why would anyone switch given success? (racquet got him to number 3 ranking in the world, wins against fed and nad, ao win, shanghai win, etc)

    Are you serious???
He got himself where he's right now and only with hard practice and will he can get further. $12M tour money + much more off Wilson/Head/Adidas/Commercials ruined it all for him IMO

You do realize he never used the k-blade tour...

He used a frame which wilson copied from head. They took his old head frame and did a retro-fit sort of thing with it.

    paint job

there is nothing wrong with the racket.. if there were,Head would have did a paint job on any racket Djoker wants to use... it's his lack of conditioning and discipline .. he's young and he's having too much fun right now being where he's at.. thus he's not focus and paying the price and not winning like before..

I believe novak was using a head racquet with a nblade and kblade Pj. I'm pretty sure pros use what ever racquet they want. They just get a PJ for what ever company pays them more.

All his shots seem alot slower, but spinnier. There isnt that penetrating speed in his shots, just watch his match against Nadal at Queens, and then watch any match from this year, Halle final perhaps?

Did anyone else notice that on TW's product info page for the Youtek Speed Pro, the stringing recommendation is one-piece? Did someone mention that TW won't be selling Head much longer?

Well there is much speculation about Nole's "new" racquet. Is it really something new of just a copy of his old one etc. My opinion is that is really is a new frame and is a good part of his problem so far this year. I have demo'd these new YouTek frames and as a head user have to say that they are really no particularly good. I have tried them on several occasions and they just don't feel good at all. If Nole really did make the switch to this I can see where he is struggling with it. I for one would be having a fit with Head and go back to my old stick one way or the other.
