Are in a tie for 1st place and I can't name one player on that team beside Coco Crisp.
How about them LA Angels, Pujols and Hamiltion added to the team and they suck as much as my Seattle Mariners. Way to spend money team owners.

So I went to a Giant's game a couple weeks ago - one of the most beautiful parks (if not the best) in the country.

Then I went to an A's game. Great team but one of the worst stadiums, really ugly.

Along came Laura. We were tailgating in the parking lot (not hard to do since no one goes to A's games) and this good looking woman walks up with a six pack of Corona asking if we have a bottle opener. Like an angel sent down from heaven. She was looking for her friends.

I guess a couple middle class white guys are the least threatening creatures on earth so she hung out with us (she is a third grade teacher - god I wish my teachers looked like her) and we partied. She found her friends.

After the game she lost her friends and hung out with us - got to love A's games, front row parking, lol. Things got fun, suffice it to say if the police were looking for her my description would be 'blue thong and butterfly tat on her @ss.

So my degenerate friends (one going through a divorce, the other forever single) are asking her for her number. I'm whispering in her ear my work number to give to them - so when they called her they would be greeted by me! How fun would that be?

    Anyway more hilarity ensued.

    I know, right?

A timely topic, as I too recently attended an A's game. I have a buddy in San Diego that is trying to visit all the MLB parks over the next year and unfortunately, it was time to knock Oakland off the list. I spend a lot of time in NorCal, as my wife is from Sacto but I had never visited this hidden gem. I've been to Giants games, Niner games, Cal football games but never made it to Oakland for a pro game.

I pick up my buddy at SFO just before lunch. We stop in San Fran for lunch and knowing Bay area traffic, decide to head over to Oakland early. What a great decision! Smooth sailing on the highway and we get to the Coliseum in no time. So early, in fact, that the gate attendant isn't even taking parking $$ yet. We ask if there is a bar or something to do close by..."Sure, just drive about 15 miles south to...."..."15 miles!?". The surrounding area isn't exactly an ideal hangout unless you want to lose a finger ,so we just walk around the stadium and parking lot...front row parking, by the way. A guy grilling hot dogs a few spaces down comes over and offers us each a dog...ever hear of NorCal hospitality?...crickets...crickets...of course you haven't but there you go.

So the stadium finally opens up and we're walking in and discussing out next trip to more glamorous stadiums...Cincinnati, Detroit, St. Louis, when an elderly gentleman ahead of us overhears our discussion. "First time at an Oakland game, huh? Get ready to experience the sh**iest stadium in baseball". I say "Not so fast, Sir, I've been to the KC Royals stadium". Well, the old guy was right. The Coliseum stinks (and just a few weeks later, the sewers literally overflowed). However, we got tickets ~ 3 rows up on the 3rd base line for less than 30 bucks. Beer was cheap and the hot dogs were okay (food selection is terrible). The fans were exceptionally nice...thought I was in the middle west for a minute there. Much different and better vibe than any Giants game I've attended (awesome stadium but large share of d-bag fans-maybe the most I've ever experienced and I've visited over 15 ball parks). And to top it off, the A's won, we left AFTER the game ended and it only took 5 minutes to get to the highway. Oakland for the win!! Milwaukee might be the funnest time I've had at a ball game (awesome stadium and super awesome people). I love Minnesota and Boston and Camden Yards and PetCo in San Diego (my homies) but props to the diehard fans in Oakland. Green collar baseball, baby.

Always wanted to check out the Brewers. Heard good things about the park and atmosphere.

Alweays wanted to check out SanFrans stadium and if I ever do it only makes sense to try to hit up Oakland as well.

I think pit has the niceset stadium going now. Its good to see them actually competing as well for a change.

I understand even the A(thletic)'s players hate their home stadium! Maybe if they get and go deep in the playoffs the higher-ups will think about fixing it up/building a new one. Been to the new Yankee Stadium (nice) and to the Mets' Citibank Field (it's no Shea but it'll do :|)

Ha, great post. The A's fans are few but passionate. The Giant's fans are many but rich band wagoners - which leads to higher prices and higher ******ry. $35 for parking? Right. Incredibly beautiful stadium though.

If anyone is gonna go to a Giant's game (from out of town) here's the deal: take BART then walk (it's a bit of a walk but beautiful). Take the $35 you saved from not paying for parking and go to the Mexican place (to the right of the entrance), have a taco and wait for the second inning. Then hit up a desperate scalper and get tix for under face value. You can enter the stadium through the mexican place and there is minimal security and no line so you can smuggle in your own beer so you don't have to pay $10 per beer. My friends and I do this several times a year. ftw

I only watch baseball at the end of the year so I am rooting for the Yankees to make the playoffs cause its Rivera's last year.

Been to the A's stadium once, its a dump but I hear they are building a new stadium soon.

The A's want to build a new stadium in the San Jose area, but the Giants have the rights to that region, and they are currently blocking the move. The Giants do a great job of marketing, and the A's get very little mention in the Bay Area media.

I have been to many Giants games, but the last time I was at the Oakland Coliseum, other than for two Raiders games, was for a Rolling Stones concert in 1994. I had a backstage pass from a friend who was an agent, and walked to the indoor arena and bought tickets to watch some of Venus Williams first professional match against Shaun Stafford, from Stanford.

That was a fun night. The arena had about 500 people, and the main sound was the clacking of Venus' beads. She didn't sit during the change-overs, and hopped around instead. I missed some of the concert, but I wanted to see Venus.

There were many shady characters in the parking lot, and I saw a drug deal take place as I walked from the arena to the concert. The arena is actually pretty nice, and I have been there recently to watch the Warriors. The Warriors plan to move to San Francisco, and I guess the A's will leave soon as well.

I love Milwaukee and all of Wisconsin!! No kidding. I've met more good/cool people here on the west coast from Wisconsin than anywhere else. My friend and I stayed downtown and asked our hotel desk clerk about paid shuttles to the ball park. Nothing she knew of but the Irish pub across the street offered a free short bus ride (a beat up, old short school bus). So we walk over and have a drink as appreciation for the free ride. It was a random, meaningless game against Houston but the bar was pretty full with people having a good time. We get on the short bus and the driver has a giant cooler of beer beside him. I buy a beer. We get ready to leave and I ask if I need to finish my beer (here in Cali this would be unheard of)..."No way, man. Want another?" Boozing on a free short bus ride full of happy, friendly Milwaukeeans? Yes!! The stadium itself is gorgeous, inside and out. It's the rare stadium you can actually have a good time strolling around, looking at the statues and memorials, etc. The sausages were fantastic (of course), beer was the cheapest I've experienced in an MLB stadium (vs Minnesota, which was Cali level), selection was great and the place was full. After the game, we got our free ride back, tipped the driver and strolled the river area bars downtown. I know Milwaukee isn't exactly a destination city for most, but I would go back in a second.

Regarding Pittsburgh, I haven't been there but this same friend has and he puts it up there with Milwaukee. Great stadium and great people.
