Oh man, I may have to splurge on that gold one if it looks awesome. I don't really like these new ones that are crimson, it's way too bright. I'd prefer the other ones, his Day Aussie Open shoes.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the look, they do look better in person to me than in the pics. They are also the most comfortable feeling Ballistec out of the box (can't vouch for performance - just tried them at the store). Still, not worth the price in my opinion.

Hmm after 3 days of wearing this shoe, about 5 hours.. I can say that I still prefer my GOAT shoe, the Vapor 9.

Maybe a little more time will tell, because with the LBs, I haven't been planting my feet very well.

I'm kinda thinking these LB's might be like the 1.3's and 3.3's... brand new idea, just has aspects it needs to adjust, like the weight/bulk for 1.3's and the stiff cage for the 3.3's... vapor 9 was also a radical design that also happened to hit the spot right off the bat
so I'll be looking forward to next year when they come out with the imrpved version (hopefully that wont mean another $5 increase lol....)

Rafa will need to wear the exact same shoe as the retail before I consider thinking that these are the new Rafa shoe. For now they are just an expensive pair of Nike tennis shoe that the pro who endorses them doesn't even want to wear!

Well actually, Azarenka does seem to wear it.

She also seems to endorse it. Funny that a Ctrl+F "Nadal" didn't give any results...

Given the change in outsole, how do you think this will perform on clay vs Vapor 9.5 Clay Version?

My Lunar Ballistics finally came in! THEY ARE AMAZING! I have worn 5 pairs of the Nike CB 4.3, I've worn the Vapor 9, Asics Gel Res 5, Adidas Barricades 7 and I can safely say that these Lunar Ballistics beats ALL of them! In short, If you take the Vapor 9 and mix it with the 4.3 you get the Lunar Ballistics.

Pros: These are one of most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They really wrap around your feet and at times it felt like I wasn't even wearing any shoes! Comparing the comfort level to the Vapor 9, these are about the same but I would give a slight edge to the Vapor 9. Before I thought the ventilation of the shoe was going to be a problem, but turns out it wasn't. So I was happy about that. They are relatively lower to the ground compared to the 4.3 but it didn't take long for adjustments. Compared to the 4.3, shoes have NO break in period. Just slip them in and start playing. They are REALLY light, they're even lighter then the Vapor 9! The tongue is borrowed from the Vapor 9 and it's very comfy.

Cons: The PRICE. I know everyone's complaining about the price, but considering I had some credit with TW and only ending paying like $40, I'm pretty content. Would I purchase these shoes at full retail ($165) in the near future? Of COURSE! They're just that good! The durablity is a big con for this shoe. Looking at the outsole it's a downgrade from the 4.3. The 4.3's outsole was a lot beefer then this one. The LB's outsole reminded me of the Air Max's outsole. Since I don't wear out my shoes as fast as before, I'm pretty content with it's outsole. Those were the only dings I had against the shoes. Other then that, dare I say these are GOAT?

Comparing the LB to popular models:

    Nike CB 4.3
    Comfort: Nike LB
    Durability: Nike CB 4.3
    Weight: Nike LB
    Ventilation: Nike CB 4.3
    Stability: Nike CB 4.3

    Nike Vapor 9
    Comfort: Same
    Durability: Nike LB
    Weight: Nike LB
    Ventilation: Vapor 9
    Stability: Nike LB

    Asics Gel Res 5
    Comfort: Nike LB
    Durability: Gel Res 5
    Weight: Nike LB
    Ventilation: Gel Res 5
    Stability: Gel Res 5

    Barricade 7
    Comfort: Nike LB
    Durability: Barricade 7
    Weight: Nike LB
    Ventilation: Nike LB
    Stability: Barricade 7

Overall, it depends on what you're looking for in a shoe. If you're looking for a light, fast, comfortable and somewhat durable shoe. I think you should take a look at the Nike LB. If you're ONLY looking for durability, then look elsewhere (the Gel 5 or the 4.3 would be a good option). For me, these shoes felt like the Vapor 9 but with more durability/stability. Nike knocked it out of the ballpark with this release and I can't wait for the newer colorways to be released!

The reason why rafa is not wearing them is probably not because he doesn't like them, it's because of his foot injury he had couple of years ago. He got a strange bend in one of his foot bones and he has shoes that compansate for that. They are custom made specially for his problems with his feet. If you have red the book "Rafa", it's widely discriped there how serious it is/was.

I get what your saying about Nadals foot but, why didnt they make a custom version that at least looks the same on the outside but functions & caters to his needs, that would be forgivable as nobody would have to know but him, Nike and his team.

Too bad the price on these is so high, otherwise the blue and gold ones would be tempting. And I am also not sure about how long the lunar cushioning will hold up for a durability shoe.

Hello guys. I have one question about this shoes.

Would you like to tell me its possible to slide on clay court with ballistec? Or it is only for hard court? Tnx for answer

^Generally speaking, clay court specialized shoes have better traction to avoid slippage. Which means that in fact hard courts shoes will slide, but slide "too well" and you may find yourself sliding too much. There shouldn't be a problem sliding with HC shoes; the problem would be to slide "too much".

I want slide with ballistec on clay court and that is very important for me. It is possible? I know that outsole isnt special for clay. This shoes are for all courts.

As I said, you will slide MORE with a hard court outsole than with a clay outsole. Clay outsole have more traction and slide less.

This proves that even nadal doesn't use the lunar ballistics. He's actually using the court ballistics but with the looks of the new lunar ballistic for advertisement

Dropped into my local tennis shop and they had both the "red" LB and the white ones, too. Upon visual inspection, the "red" is NOT red. It's like hot pink. So I tried the white top version. The shoe is light but the fit was not right for my feet. They also had the Vapor 9.5. It's basically same as the V9 beside the cosmetic changes to the top. So what did I do? I bought the V9s they had on sale. Two pairs. Fit like a glove. They'll get added to my other 5 pairs of V9s.

Yeah- it's more of a vibrant red compared to the 2013 US open vapors

I picked up the new Lunar Ballistecs this week.

Just by accident I tried on a pair in size 9.5, without even knowing, cause the seller made a mistake with the boxes and turns out they fit big! I usually wear 10 / 10.5 in all my tennis shoes and I stayed with a smaller size for the Lunar Ballistec. Something to keep in mind if you can't try them on.

btw... here's a better look of how Nadal's version is different than retail pair.

So far I'm stockpiling on the CBs 4.3...Don't want to take any chances, need all the support I can get, especially from the air cushion (after pains in the balls of my feet with GR5).

I don't know why people are still discussing the difference between the _custom_ build shoes for Nadal with the shoes that are available for public.

Nadal has always used custom build shoes and the Lunar Ballistec obviously wasn't build for Nadal.

If you factor Nadal out of the Lunar Ballistec and you try them on, you'll notice how nice the shoes are, but yeah, they are expensive.

The flywire might be redundant, but everything else works. It's not the design that makes it looks flashy, but the color. Overall, I think these are my favorite shoes (I've had the CB 1.3, 2.3, 3.3 and Vapor 9)!

In this picture, LB appears to wrinkle a lot. CB4.3 and Vapor 9 deal with bending differently and I am reasonably happy with them both...but LB looks a little under design here...any comfort issue you notice when bending your feet?

I'm still reeling from the price. I'm trying to figure out what Nike is getting at by pricing these so out of line with previous new introductions.

For the folks complaining about the price, do you usually buy shoes at full price when they come out? I just assumed most people wait for the rates to drop when newer colors come out... can't remember the last time I paid full msrp for shoes, the prices always come down. Plus, if you do pay full price because you can't wait, then this shoe has a durability gty, so you should be able to get 2 for 1 if you play a few times a week.

Yeah, that's a logical choice. I'm actually surprised that the WTF and Cincy Vapors (correct me if I'm wrong) are still on sale. They actually have full stock. Expect to see a super price drop during the spring and summer sale.

This wrinkling is after a day of wearing them in the office (casual day). No problems for me, the one concern I have is that if they were tighter around the medial Dragon area then that could lead to pinching between the 'plates'. Thankfully there is plenty of room.

at first i didnt want to buy these shoes but lately im getting second thoughts. i allways used the 4.3 but the lighter weight and better cushioning are making me think. im gonna go tommorow and try them on at my local shop if i like the fit ill prolly buy them.
just gotta figure out if i want the red ones or the white/red ones cause my shop has both of them in stock (prolly will go with the red ones cause i play mainly on clay)

Compared to the 4.3 there is more room in the toe area and they feel broken in from the outset. A word of caution, they don't look red in the flesh, more like fluro red. The swoosh on Nadal's 2013 French Open shirt is the same/similar colour.
