Has anybody in here also worn and tried the Yonex SHT 308's or new Yonex shoes ? I know those are also very light shoes. I was wondering how the Cushioning on the Lunar ballistec compare to Yonex SHT 308 or the new yonex shoe. Thank you

Yonex feels a little bit more bouncy than the LB.

Just got back from IW and Rafa wears the Lunars for practice and falls back on the 4.3's during matches. Frankly I was unimpressed with them when I tried them on. 4.3's feel structurally more solid, more locked in fit, but the Lunars are definitely in the light weight class of the vapors. Oh the Lunars have a lower arch than the 4.3's.

That is why Yonex is the GOAT shoe and much better. That extra springy will help you get to faster more powerful start and save you 0.5 seconds on getting to all shots

Agreed, if you look at my original post carefully I did say that the only shoes that can compete with Nike LBs in performance are Yonex. but style wise Yonex arent looking as sharp as the LBs. LBs are not that far behind in performance either.

traction seems like an issue with this sole... not sure since I've never tried the cage but it seems like its not going to be grabbing the court as well...

I care about Performance Not looks. if it makes me faster by 20 % or so, I will buy that shoes no matter what

    what?

Where are these numbers coming from?

I'm a bit skeptical that any shoe will 'spring' anybody "0.5 seconds faster" to the ball, or 'make' someone "20% faster"?

Maybe if you are comparing the heaviest shoe on the market to the lightest one, but now you have to account for loss of lateral support. Even then, no shoe is going to "spring you" to the ball faster.

That said, the 'fastest' performance shoe I've ever used is Adidas Feather.

"Air Max Cage is the sturdiest Nike shoe left (after CB 43 have been discontinued) so if you are heavy and need support (and shoes like Vapors don’t last you long, support wise and sole wise on hard courts) then he advises to go with the Air Max Cages."

Never tried them and I'm actually split what to try in the distant future: the Lunars or the Cages?

the cages still has the problem with the air max bubble popping. also, i didnt like the way my heel sat in the shoe and felt that my heel isnt secured in the shoe. There is a short break-in when putting on the shoe for the first time.

So no one is going to post a picture of their soles after x number of hrs of play and relate to other shoes they've worn?

I am very curious about lunar ballistec sale data.
I feel like many people are waiting for discount because of high price and nadal does not adapt this new shoes for his matches yet.
There are many posts in this thread but not many people talk about actual experiments with this shoes.
I tried at local store briefly and I immediately noticed that light weight of shoes.
It was comfortable too but unfortunately when I see outsole, I realized that the outsole is much thinner than usual CB series (outsole was thicker than vapor).

About 115hrs are not bad. How long can you use CB 4.3?

To me, they don't have as good of traction as the 4.3. And there is a lot more "volume" to the Lunars. That being said, I will probably buy another pairs of lunars in the future, so long as I size down.

the 4.3 lasted me longer. one design flaw i noticed with this shoe was the way the lunarlon cushioning is exposed. after my first hit i completely wrecked parts of it on the side by sliding on hard courts. overall i was disappointed with the shoe. not as comfortable as vapor 9, not as durable as the 4.3

I had high expectation of the shoes because 4.3 was worst shoes for me.
all my 4.3 had air max cracking issues. Never had this cracking issue with other CBs. I really like vapor but has horrible durability. Probably I will test one when I receive a voucher from Nike.
Time to use all my old shoes since I have enough shoes for next three years without buying any shoes hahaha.

^^^^^^ Thanks for the feedback gentlemen.

@Kimguroo, I believe you are right. The price broke through some point for many people (AND having the pro who they are made for blatantly not wearing them is a factor too). Just too much without any real improvement to your game - as opposed to new sticks or strings.

Based on the above feedback, at $125 (if they come down that far) I will get 1 pair just to satisfy my curiosity. I like the white ones - will go with more clothes.

They are now on sale for 135 here on TW. I'm actually
liking the new "Space Age" Colorway.

Also, they've updated the shoe to "inspired" by Rafa, since
he obviously still loves his 4.3's

Try same size or higher. I am 12 for Vapor 9.5s and the LBs are a bit tight in 12 (not as comfortable)

I had the laser crimson ones in my normal size, and had to wear two pair of socks for it to fit right. I'm between sizes (9.5 in vapor), and when the metallic zinc came out, I ordered that in a 9. Have played about 6 hours in them, and am so much happier that I went a half size down. Fits perfectly, and no doubling up on socks.

My fd got 2 of these and he doesn't seem like to rate them as one of the best out there. They are not bad but not $160 good either. The white one got this mash fabric around the heel and they got dirty in no time. Even if they dont I suspect they will turn yellow within a year.

So far it's been my favorite shoe. I bought a lot of shoes in the past year to try and find the "right" shoe. Started with the Propulse 4s which I really liked, but were a bit heavy for me, and the heel collar kept giving me blisters.

Then went with the vapors, which I loved for about a month, but then the outsoles would be shot, and me being on the heavy side (5'6, 190 LBs) the cushioning wasn't up to par. Also, I loved the lightweight feel to them, and the performance on the court but because of the lack of cushioning and support it was hard for me to recover between matches which sucked when I was playing tournaments.

I then tried the AMC's, but they just didn't fit me right. Same for the CB 4.3s. They destroyed my arches, even after I put in new insoles. I bought the LBs when they first came out, and loved them, other than the fact I had to wear two pairs of socks. Now that I've got a new pair a half size down, I absolutely love them. Price was never an issue for me, but I know that's not the same for everyone else so I get the reluctance. Though the LBs are perfect for me, I could understand someone not wanting to shell out $165 to test and see if they're right for them.

    Long winded enough lol?

Here is my mini review of them, I've been wearing them for a little over a month now... I have several pair of 4.3, Vaopr 9 and used the Cage as well. This shoe is very light and slightly more durable than the vapor, the foot bed is very comfortable and fits my foot better than the others... My foot is a little on the wider side and these fit good right out of the box for me. My Vapor 9's usually take a little break in to feel good... It fits similar to cages but feels plusher... The 165 price tag is pretty tough to swallow and honestly the color ways available are not the greatest (even the new ones that came out 4/1). But they are a very good shoe and seem to be wearing very well. Hope this helps!

In my experience they do. I think the cushioning lasts longer on the LB. Cushioning was good on the vapor for about a month for me (I play between 5-12 hours a week depending on if I have a tournament that week or not.). After that, I didn't feel as if I had a lot of cushioning. Also, I'm a bit on the heavy side so my weight probably had something to do with it. I wore my first pair of LBs from the time they came out until this past Thursday when I got my metallic zinc ones, and the cushioning in my first pair is still really good.

Got mine in today. Weird indeed. Nobody suggest sizing down and Vapor and I had to to get a good fit. Most says to go down half a size on Lunar which I did and it turns out to be a little too tight. Should have listened to nytennis-74 before I placed my order!

After wearing the Lunar Ballistec in my regular size 11.5 every other day for two weeks I notice slipping of the sole under the balls of my feet. I received a second pair in size 11 and while they are snug out of the box, they feel great to play in, not too small and they don't crease up and give an awkward feel when shuffling and running around. For me the 1/2 size smaller is perfect and I'm just barely over a size 11.5 on scale.

Being that I can't exchange the Atomic Red 11.5 because of wearing, I have been considering wearing thicker socks. All my Nike socks are the white Dri-Fit sold in 6-packs. I don't wear two at a time like some so maybe if I buy a few pair of Elite that will help. I would highly recommend sizing down by 1/2. My first pair felt great out of the box and after breaking in a bit they feel too big to the point of avoiding wearing. I'm pretty mad about this but what else can I do? I've already worn the 11.5 and was told I can't exchange them.

Have you tried the V9.5? They fit like a glove - best shoe I ever had.
