Nadal? What about Djokovic. He is the worst when it comes to complaining at the end of the year.

Federer's 39-7 record at the WTF looks ridiculous compared to the rest (2nd best is Murray with 9-7).

Federer has won more matches at the WTF than the other 7 combined

Although this is mostly because the records of the other 7 are rather poor. Apart from Federer, only Murray has won more than 50% of his matches.

For me, the most likely to win (in order from most to least)
Federer, Murray, Djokovic, Berdych, Ferrer, Delpo, Tsonga, Tipsy.

I wonder what the betting odds are for a semi final without any of the top 3 tho... Man that would be so great to watch.

Or maybe because Federer played 9 WTFs/TMC , and Murray played 3. But, on the other side I doubt that Andy will have more wins than Federer.

Bryan brothers better step it up. Maybe they aren't the best anymore?

They haven't won this title for a few years. Still think they are the best. Proved it at the Olympics and US Open....that they still have it.

Good effort for Grans and Marc if they pull it off.

Granollers/Lopez are really good, but they've tightened up late in the match here with a couple double faults in crucial moments. Watching the match, I'd even say they are better than the Bryan brothers right now except for the mental part of the game.

Pwnerer hasn't ever 3-peated this tournament. I don't expect him to win this year... I'm not even 100% sure he'll put in full effort.

    Therefore I wont' watch.

Don't know about Russel's opinion, but I think if people go to the trouble of creating threads they should at least name the event properly with the year of the event. That makes it way easier to search for old threads. The same goes for match threads... Put the event, year and the players' names. Look at Ico's titles on some threads; he even capitalizes the players last name so it's easier to read -- GOAT thread namer.

So far, all the match outcomes have followed the seedings ie. all the higher seeds have beaten the lower seeds. No lower seed has yet beaten a higher seed. Hence:

    Group A:

Djokovic (1) has beaten Murray (3) and Tsonga (7).
Murray (3) has beaten Berdych (5).
Berdych (5) has beaten Tsonga (7).

    Group B:

Federer (2) has beaten Tipsarevic (8)
Ferrer (4) has beaten Del Potro (6).

Will be interesting to see if this pattern continues.

You know what's strange? If you look at the group standings (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Scores/Finals-Group-Standings-2012.aspx) you see that Andy Murray and David Ferrer are both 2nd in their respective groups. The strange thing is that Andy Murray has the same amount of wins and losses as the #3 Berdych, but has a worse games won/lost ratio. So he doesn't really belong there. Same with Ferrer, except that it's even worse: Ferrer's set win/loss is 2-3 and #3 Del Potro's is 3-2. The only explanation I can think of is that it's this way because Del Potro and Berdych lost to Ferrer and Murray and they become number 3 because the number 2 cannot have lost to the #3..

All in all a bit strange. Of course it doesn't matter much now, the last match will decide everything.

Taken from the PDF doc for Rules under the tournament website, accessible from ATP website:

The final standings of each group shall be determined by the first of the following methods that apply:
    a) Greatest number of wins;
    b) Greatest number of matches played;
    c) Head-to-head results if only two (2) players are tied,
    d) If three (3) players are tied, then:
... i) If three (3) players each have one win, a player having played less than all three (3) matches is automatically eliminated and the player advancing to the single elimination competition is the winner of the match-up of the two (2) players tied with 1-2 records; or
...ii) Highest percentage of sets won; or
...iii) Highest percentage of games won.
...iv) If (i), (ii) or (iii) produce one (1) superior player (first place), or one (1) inferior player (third place), and the two (2) remaining players are tied, the tie between those two (2) players shall be broken by head-to-head record.
    4) If ties still exist after the above procedures, the ATP shall make
    the final determination.
    5) In applying the tie-breaking procedures, a conduct default or retirement shall count as a straight-set win or loss. However, games won or lost in matches with the defaulting or retiring player shall not be counted in the application of subsection 3.d. (iii) above. A player who retires during the round robin because of illness or injury may continue in the competition if it is approved by the tournament doctor.

Sounds like Cvac is making pretty light work of T-Berd in London. 4-1 first set with Nole to serve.

    Impressive stuff from #1.

Djoko getting the job done. He's been in good form this tournament so far. Berd has beaten Djoko only once in 11 encounters and surprise, surprise... the one time was on grass. People here didn't really expect Berd to beat Djoko here in straights now, did they? That would have been very foolish.
ETA: Djoko just qualified for the semi. Congrats to him! Let's see if he lets up now.

I think we're in for a blockbuster final weekend, just like in 2010 - where all the top guys progressed through the round-robin stages fairly comfortably.

Two more awful players lose in Marray/Nielson. Fluke victory at Wimbledon it's amazing they can even win a match.

Well, they only qualified for WTF mainly because of their Wimbledon win. Don't think they are all that bad though. They beat the Bryans at Wimbledon and Bhupathi/Bopanna and Mirnyi/Nestor, the defending champions, at the O2. They've qualified for the semis. Those big scalps can't ALL be flukes!

We have a rematch tomorrow of two guys who fought to a fifth-set TB in the USO'12 QFs and I haven't read one poast about the matchup. Granted Tipsy has been off-form for much of the Fall swing and looked overwhelmed in his losses this week, but Ferrer has played a lot of tennis winning Valencia and Bercy. Tipsy proved he can hang with the Spanish Terrier two months ago. Can he fight that hard tomorrow???

Only for a second - there is no 3 way tie scenario where Roger and Delpo don't qualify.

If Delpo beats Roger in straights then Delpo wins the group and Roger is 2nd, if Delpo wins in 3, then it's the other way round - either way, any Delpo win sees Ferrer eliminated.

So the Tipsy/Ferrer match has become a "dead rubber" with JMDP's win today???
