One of the funniest tennis quotes ever!

I'm sure it's been talked about here on the boards at least a hundred times, but the funniest quote about tennis I ever heard was from ESPN while doing the highlights for a Nole match when the sportscaster said:

"Is Wayne Brady gonna have to Djokovic!?"

Buahahahaha! Watching himplay against Nadal the other day made me think of that one.

There is no point explaining what it is if you do not know the show or the people involved in the skit.

btw:

USA > rest of the world :D

I think it has something to do with their stupid pronunciation:
"Djo-ka-witch" sounds like choke-a-*****

I don't see what so funny btw

since you haven't seen the source material it makes sense you don't see what's so funny
also, it doesn't matter which pronunciation you use, the joke still works

also, the quote comes from one of the more popular sketches of the 2nd season of Chapelle Show. extremely funny show, though you need to know Dave and Wayne Brady before you could appreciate the quote in question.

Is the Chapelle show still on? The one and only one I watched was the KKK one and I almost died laughing!

So the OP was just assuming there would be some mass corelation between Chappelle fans and TT posters or tennis fans in general :? ...

Good luck with that.

It would be nice if someone could give some cogent, cohesive explanation!

Agreed. I was a Chapelle fan although don't recall the referenced episode. Doesn't strike me as being anything so outrageously funny but to each his own I guess.

22 posts b4 someone shows the link?

If the OP had posted the link we could have avoided getting panty-twisting wads, eh? It's not a Euro thing or a class thing, it's just an obscure skit and an even more obscure SC reference. I LMAO watching the YouTube and subsequent doctored SC clip, so thanks and all youse that haven't chilled yet, watch it and enjoy! But for seriously funny (black humor) tennis quotes, anything out of JMac's mouth in the 80's takes high honors. I liked it when he scoffed that the then-#1-ranked woman, Navritilova, couldn't even beat the #100 man in the world. The outcome is moot, but it sent everybody off to scour through the rankings to find out exactly who #100 was (Derek Tarr). This was pre-web era so nobody had any data handy on him. An avalanche of reporters descend on the poor guy and probably contributed negatively to his career. Mr. "you cannot be serious" was seriously funny in a sad way.

lol who the hell is Wayne Brady?

(For non US posters who are not familiar with Wayne Brady.)
Wayne Brady is a comedian/actor/TV personality. He is known as the whitest black guy in America. Chapelle often made fun of him for that on his show with jokes like "Wayne Brady makes Brian Gumbel (another whitest black guy in America) look like Malcolm X." That's what make that skit so hilarious -- Wayne Brady going completely gangster (which is totally opposite of how he is in real life.)
