:) If you want to put it that way...fine with me. Well, we can also mention the little help from the net when he broke Simon in the 2nd set....
However, as you mentioned, what would we expect from Nadal? He's on his way back, the surface is not that friendly for the purpose, (against an inspired(?) opponent in front of his home crowd). As long as Nadal keeps winning, I think he's having a smooth comeback
Yeah, about his mixing up the serve, I've been impressed with his improvement on the selection of serve at the "crucial" moments in this tournament. In this match, the way he served out the final game. (Or should we say Simon just gave up at that moment?) Well, I'd rather like to point out a good thing. Yeah, his "fighting spirit" is not too shabby either. To me, that's a given. I wouldn't expect anything less.

He won against Mathieu in straight sets. It was a pretty good match.
He's in the semi final (against Clement).

Now, he played much better today. His serving improved a lot in one day -- but maybe he's getting his confidence back and such. Still don't know if he'll get past Clement, who says he's playing his best tennis now, but I give him a better chance today than I would have yesterday.

Grojean vs. Ancic. Tough pick. Ancic seems to be a reasonable pick but I would never underestimate Grojean. (Maybe it's just because I'm pulling for Grojean in this match :)) Enjoy him while you can.

    Yeah........right.............
I wouldn't worry too much about the semi against Clement. To make it a good match, what Clement needs to do is
    1. read nadal's serve well & do sth about it (my daily hyping up nadal's serve selection/disguise :) ) Players need to update their scouting on Nadal's tendency on serve.
    2. absorb nadal's spin and all the running he has to do (now considering clement's size...not such a pretty sight)
    3. perform well at the net. (but this requires all the other things done well especially #2)
    4. attack nadal's forehand well (sounds crazy? However, it's the only way to neutralize/attack nadal's positoning for his inside out/in fh).
    5. serve well.
I doubt Clement can do these so well consistently to pull an upset, unless nadal's having a really off day. I just hope that he does these reasonably well to make it a good match.

As long as it doesn't keep buffering & I can see the ball I'm happy. We're lucky to have it at all.

Right now its Mario Ancic vs Grosjean, Ancic took the first set, 6-3 and in the second set, Grosjean is up 5-3 and serving for the second set.

Ancic has been playing this week as if he means to win this thing. But a win by Clement woud be OK too, and would make th e fans there very happy.

Just finished watching Nadal vs Clement.
A good win for Clement. He looked better than against Santoro. I expected him to play well at the net but he served better than expected (even considering Nadal's not a great returner), played wiser to dictate the flow of the game in his favor, not over concerned about avoiding Nadal's fh. He had a better game plan and excuted well starting from the second set.

The first set suggested a routine match for Rafa. Clement tried to be aggressive and cut the points short, but didn't seem to believe he could pull off an upset.
The second game of the second set was crucial. Nadal was broken, playing a sloppy game (I wonder how much it was due to the loss of concentration from the bee sting). After the break, Celment's service game picked up and his aggressive game plan started to work better.
Imho, Nadal did not play a smart game and at least once Clement's (service, attack) level picked up, should have made an adjustment to prolong the rallies (with more deep loopy strokes pinning Clement at the backcourt) on his own serve and take Clement's legs out to slow him down. He let Clement play the right game. Maybe, he's not fit enough yet to go through a tough tournament. Looked a little tired at the third set. Anyway, not a bad tournament by Nadal. I hope he could find a better form and better balance btw constructing quick points and making the opponents run.

Again, however, good job by Clement. I hope he could win the tournament.

What a great week by Clement.
He had no problem beating Ancic (4 & 2). He was really on fire.

Even though the webcast was blurry, I enjoyed Clement's win . First title in 3 years...having the crowd behind him spurred hin on all week. Soon Mario will get over the "finalist" to "winner " hump. ... a great tournament.
