I'm new to the forum, but I have been stringing for over 15 years.

I have a Czech Sports CT750 that's starting to give me troubles. The crank/tension assembly is starting to act up. The lock-out tension head doesn't always lock out, and I really have to watch or I'm pulling too much tension. More and more frequently I'm having to pull twice to get it to lock out. I figure I have two options. Get a Wise 2086 or a complete new machine. I don't necessarily need an electric machine, but it would be nice. If I buy a complete new it most likely won't be electric. Probably an Alpha Apex2 or Alpha pro.

The clamps on my Czech Sports machine have never been good. You have to really clamp the string tight to keep it from slipping, but it's been like that since day one. I've never had a string break at one of the clamp marks, but it sure looks bad. Especially with poly string.

    Any suggestions?

You answered your own question. Why put a good tension head on a 15 year old machine with bad clamps?

I would invest on a new machine if i were you. A wise head with that machine is not worth. The single action clamp is terrible. It requires a lot of adjustments, and it leaves crazy marks on the string specially Guts & Multil. The aluminum handle bar for the clamps aren't solid specially by the bolts areas. They worn out on my machine so I retired it a few months back. The company is longer in business so it's pretty hard to find parts for it.

    Good luck.

Sounds like a new machine is in my near future.

I've got a lead on a 2-3 year old Babolat 5-star that looks in excellent condition for $1300. Sound like a good deal?
