    Hi

I live in France and I used to order from TW us website
cause it's cheaper (we pay in dollars not in euros)

when I checkout and use my credit card, I receive an email asking me:
    - my ID
    - a copy of my credit card
    - a copy of bank authorization to use my credit card

How come TW is under SOVIET SUPREME procedures? Come on!
It is really dumb, especially when you buy from TW europe without this kind of contrainte de mer**

We do apologize for any inconvenience, however, given the amount of attempted fraud we get on a regular basis, it not only behooves us to do it for TW, but for the protection of our customers as well.

Unfortunately, these procedures are quite necessary, and pretty standard in today's online international transactions.

    Regards,

    Spencer, TW.

I haven't used amazon.com for a while, but they never used to have these kinds of measures.

I'm sure fraud is a far greater problem within the US, but at least you can catch the locals.

Soveit? Come on now, the alternative is TW loose some items due to dodgy cards and addresses therefore having to pass those looses onto other items by putting the price up, would you rather that?Would you rather it wasn't as secure as it could be so your ID gets stolen and cards used in the US where it's very hard to track down the fraud? I used a US site about a month later a bunch of credit card charges from a gambling sit ein Nevada, that takes time to clear up i'd rather spend an extra minute on my order thank you.The other alternative is of course they stop shipping overseas, that wouldn't be good at all!

I must admit that, from another point of view, it requires a bit of trust from the consumer to hand over these details as a lot of credit card fraud is run through businesses, or people acting illegally while working in legal businesses.

I actually sent the details by letter to avoid problems.

Back in the good old days you used to be able to buy international bank cheques very cheaply, and then they quadrupled the price thereby making credit cards mandatory.

Transactions at TW Europe (located in Germany) are handled quite differently than they are in the United States and don't require those same type of safeguards, as it is an entirely different procedure.

It's just that the procedure is annoying
And fraud is most of the time covered by my credit card assurance, so...
still, I will definetely continue buying from tw, best products at best prices no doubt about it

It's worth checking, in the last 18 months each of the card companies i use have written to me to say either they do not do ID theft protection anymore, they don't have to give assistance for less than £100 over here and of course you are liable so you have to pay the bill (mine was a $500 casino bill in the US) and hope they can do a chargeback and you get the refund because they all say in their small print you're liable for any transactions.
Just a warning from someone who's been through it!:-?

On a different note I stopped ordering because of the bad delivery system and extra costs (im in canada) through UPS.

Last time I order from TW

    I'm in Morocco now
I use a french credit card on tt europe since last year at least

I've orderer yesterday, and received an email saying they cant process the order because my adress is different
i call them, and they say : "you card was used in Morocco, we cant process your order"
So what? I've been using it forever on the internet
they actually received the payment, I know it cause it's on my credit card info

now they're telling me they're cancelling my order, so I have to wait for them to give me back my money ( 3 days) and then I have to wire transfer the money back to tt europe in order to process the order.

nice way to loose a customer
    never again

I realize this is an old thread, but you have to realize that the automated credit card verification system that TW uses (both in the USA and in Europe) must have safeguards in place to prevent international fraud.

You are using a French-issued credit card to order from Morocco, which is in Africa. That throws up a red flag that it could be credit card fraud, so it requires extra proof of validation, because it's a higher risk to TW. The costs to prosecute international crime for credit card fraud is very high. So even TW Europe would have to count any fraud as a loss, which would increase prices, which they do not want to do, in the best interest of the other 99% of their regular customers.

If you wire transfer the money, then TW can get paid before they ship the order, so the risk is much lower. Besides, the extra 3 days won't matter in the long run anyway, since you know TW will deliver your items quickly and correctly, at the lowest prices.

If you want to go somewhere else to avoid the hassle, that's your choice. But chances are that the prices are higher or the shipping time is slower. Whatever you choose, good luck.

Paypal fraud is the most common nowadays. I use a visa on several websites such as fnac.com or even nikestore.com and i was never asked any id i have to scan and send by mail. Now that i did it, i just hope that i wont have to send that info again...
Cause it is annoying indeed. Btw, there are many new german and french websites with VERY Competitive prices on tennis equipement.
