I am having a problem with my girlfriend when she hits her forehands. Her left hand stays close to her body at all times (like its glued) I want her to extend her arm out but Im not entirely sure how to tell her. She wants me to give her reasons why. apparently "because all the pros do it" isnt a good enough reason for her...haha...In any case, does it have to do with her balance when hitting a shot? Maybe even giving her more power and control? If so, i need evidence i guess...

    Please advise!

I want her to hit better groundstrokes with more pace and control!

tell her it allows her to use her core body more, and it helps with balance. I think gluing the arm to her side creates tightness and an unrelaxed body. you end up wasting energy.

for one, you need your hand out there to keep balance. after the racket spins quickly around your body, its best to catch your racket, so you don't end up turning 90 degrees by the force of the racket acceleration, get it?

Yeah, tell her that if she doesn't get that other hand out there, she'll be an unbalanced person.

I mean, tell her she won't be a well-balanced person.

    I mean...

Well, you get the idea.

Actually, don't use it. I tried it on my wife and I'm still on probation. :(
