You're gonna buy a bunch of cheap ripoffs, bad quality. Buying stuff from the asian market is like going to thailand and trying to find a heterosexual prostitute.

    cork screw,

    Know not, speak not.

And I consider this an insult. In fact, it may be considered a discrimination. And that's against US Constitution.

    Hey guys,

I have a friend looking to buy a new racket, can anyone tell me the best place and price for a Babolat Pure Drive 2012 in Bkk?

I saw one in a shop up Ekkami area last month, didn't see any Babs in Supersport....

    Thanks!

Would you be so good as to outline your experiences shopping in Thailand for us? Exactly where did you go, what did you get sold, and how were you ripped off?

You couldn't speak with such authority without firsthand experience - so help out the others on this thread with some practical advice so they don't have to suffer what you did.

Well I eventually got a PD 2012 from Sport Nova in Bangkruai, great store.

Now, a friend of mine is interested in the 2011 Yonex VCore 100s, which stores in BKK sell Yonex tennis rackets in 4 3/8?

    Thanks:grin:

    ryydman,

I'll see if a Yonex sales person I know can get some info on this.

BTW, I'll be in Pattaya the week after Jan 20. I'll give you a buzz. May be we can get to meet and play.

Hey, my friend wants a Yonex VCORE 100 S but can only find the Yonex VCORE Xi 100 in Bkk and at Pattaya Expo.

The older model has better reviews, have they stopped selling these in Thailand already?

    Hey there,
I'm going to visit Thailand for 2 months very soon. Now that i saw this post i was thinking that maybe i'd be able to get some good infos and tips from some people here, because i'm definitely going to visit some **********s.
As most of the posts in this thread aren't really up-to-date anymore, i hope you'll be able to give me some more current information, or some contacts.

    Greetings,

    gbgTennis

Thanks as the bigger shop seems to be about more than an one hour by car from the center.
Do you know the adress of the smaller one by chance?

You'd have more luck finding decent outlet stores in the US than Thailand. They're not really that sort of place, notwithstanding most of the tennis stuff is made elsewhere - not Thailand.

Sport Nova is just another standard retail outlet, I've never really seen much of interest that I couldn't find easily elsewhere. And, they're not really cheap either > the 2012 US Open Federer shorts when I was there were like 1500 bath which is US$50.. not exactly outlet prices imo.

Agreed...I found myself treating my recent KL, Malaysia sojourn as an opportunity to window-shop the local retail sports scene which pretty much centred on badminton, soccer and golf. I realised I'd be disappointed if I got hung up on finding good tennis stuff in a place without any tennis culture. Besides, it was near-impossible to find gripsizes beyond 1/4.

I found myself venturing away from the glitzey malls and sports stores within them, and exploring Chinatown. There, I had fanciful hopes of taking a wrong turn down a street and entering a back alley known to locals as "Tennis Gear Alley" and finding mom and pop shops offering the Mother Lode of new old stocks :)

You will never find such a place in KL, Thailand, Indonesia or Cambodia. They don't exist.

I'm looking for a Wilson Six.One 95 BLX (18x20) in Bangkok. Anirut, I was trying to send you a private message but can't seem to figure out how. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestion on where to go? How much should I be expecting to pay (it's $119 online but I figure it'll be more).

Also Anirut, you live west of the river? Where? I live near the Krung Thon Buri bts stop, but I don't know of any (cheap) tennis courts around here. I usually travel ~40 minutes to play but I'd like to find some around here. Any ideas?

I'm out of town at the moment.

There's a tennis facility in Soi 5 Lad Ya Road, near Wong Wien Yai. The courts are just playable, fast but not very well-maintained. Not too shabby, though. The cost for night time is around 190/hr, I think. I usually play there Wednesday night but haven't played for over two months now as I have to travel a lot. My mates still play the usual Wednesday night tennis.

I don't know if it's because you're a "new member" that you couldn't PM me. May be try again.

Yeah just checked again and no way to message you unfortunately. Since I'm looking to buy a racket in the next few days do you have any suggestions on where to go? Is there a store in the mbk mall? I just went to the two stores in central world and ******* and everything was marked up 75%
