Old Veteran Jeff Tarango at it again. Playing for fun perhaps ?? Anyway, this weekend in La Jolla beach and Tennis club features the BEST in Division 1 doubles teams in a prestigious tournament. Players like JP Mcenroe has played in this tournament in the years past. Stanford has usually dominated this doubles event.
My pick to win is Favorite team from Southern California and Stanford pair, Klahn and Thacher. Draw is OUT.

I think that it is Coach Peter Smith. I used to work at LJBTC a couple of summers ago and I got to see him play in the USTA 40's and Father/Son tourneys.

Agree. Peter Smith is always one of the best in his ageclass and has won several gold balls. Looks like Peter is playing with one of his players since the bracket list them from USC. Id like to see him beat Tarango in singles. Would need a lines judge :)

I noticed Chris Dunk is on the 9th seeded team. Wonder if that is Chris Dunk from the 80s (played for Cal...played pro tennis, too) or maybe it's his son or something?

He's playing with a young Cal player.

Holy cow. Clayton and Wire will face the Tarango man tomorrow am. My pick is Clayton and Wire, of course. Hopefully, Jeff's wife won't show up to slap anyone......lol

Also Moving on is Kandath and Lin, future of Stanford. and of course, #1 team of Klahn and Thacher dominating so far.

Yes, that is Chris Dunk, former California Berkeley All-America and past champion of the Pacific Coast Doubles in 1980 with Marty Davis (current men's tennis coach at UC Santa Barbara). Chris just turned 52 years of age and was close to the top 100 in singles and 35 in doubles on the ATP Tour until he retired in 1987.

Holy Smokes. Kandath and Denis Lin in the Quarterfinals agaist USC pair Farah and Johnson. Denis will carry the day. #1 seed, Klahn and Thacher mowing down the competition so far, in the quarters as well.

Is anybody here going to watch this match ?
Id like to hear about the level of play and who is doing what ?
Tarango is still playing at a high level of tennis ?
He may not be too far off his top 100 level form ?

Do you ever get tired of blowing stanford's matches out of proportion, only to have them lose?
