Gosh, my daughter and I are "rookies" in the junior tournament scene but I've seen three incidents already (not involving my kid) were parents behaved badly...disputing calls with other parents, parents coaching their kids when they are not suppose to, parents calling in referees, etc....what is it with that?

Any really bad stories you wish to share, and any suggestions on how to avoid these kinds of conflict?

one of my friends told me that one time she was playing a night match that was right next to the parking lot and the other girl's parents went and parked their car next to the court and would turn their headlights on whenever my friend was facing them. Thats the worst one I've heard/seen. Although every now and then there are some courageous parents who dont put up with any **** (actually saw a kid get spanked on court once for acting out)

One kid I've played and beat 4 times has a dad who is insane for his career. He stinks though. His dad always gives him coaching signals and decks him out in Adidas. Once he even screamed "Get your da** shots in"

And the thing is since his dad can chaperone him a tourny every weekend, he is ranked above me even though ive beaten him 4 times. And a kid i beat 0 and 0 is ranked above me too. Arkansas' ranking system sucks XD

I've seen parents actually encouraging/asking their kids to cheat on line calls and gamesmanship tactics. It's a very pathetic situation when people stoop to such level. imo, Tennis is the worst thing to look for earning a name or living if you grow up adopting such low ethics and values.

This kid and his parents cheered every error I made in one match. When I shanked a sitter, the parents and the kid went nuts. Next point I hit a winner and did my Hewitt impersonation (CMON! huge fist pump) Other times I've seen parents yelling at kids for making "bad calls" (sometimes they were, sometimes they werent

This ones good.....After I beat someone 6 0 6 2 in a small USTA tournament, his dad and him actually tried to get me disqualified because I had two vibration dampeners on my racket. (I used to play with two vibration 'worms' in my racket). The director just laughed and told him when he'd be playing his consolation
