Definitely will be getting a pair. I wonder whether outlets in Canada will eventually have these?

Yes. The word is still 'at selected Nike stores' (or something to that effect). No idea how many stores and how many copies each will get. I hope tennis fans can get them.

Would these be good to play in? Really like the black/white pair. Looks like they have an XDR outsole and sufficient cushioning. Just curious, even though I was an Agassi guy and not a Pete guy.

I plan on playing in my pair. The XDR outsole is quality, and Nike seems to have made improvements on the ventilation (now features mesh tongue). They won't be nearly as breathable as song of the shoes currently available, but they'll be fit for play.

After all, these shoes were worn by Sampras through his retirement in 2003. And by Gasquet, Grosjean, Santoro, Clement, and countless others up until around 2005-2006.

Both oscillate versions are only on Nike US which doesn't ship to the UK sigh. I can't see these being released in the UK

Initially I'm going to wear the Safaris around town. Might get the whites to play in if they feel light.

Fake carbon fiber shank, people! :)

I've now purchased by delivering to family in Houston.

I'm definitely planning to wear the safaris casually

Took a flyer on the safari print, so hopefully they are good to play in. Not a big fan of white shoes, and not a Sampras fan (more of an Agassi fan). Wish they would do a similar thing with the Air Tech Challenges, make a playable version with updated technology.

I grabbed a pair of Safaris in 12.5. Hopefully they still fit a half-size smaller, as I'm usually a 12. Bigger sizes have already sold out on Nike.com. Smaller boutiques in Europe/UK have them as well but I don't want to pay int'l shipping.

Probably picking up a white pair eventually for history's sake. They're iconic!

It looks like Oscillates is only Nike air tennis shoe with air unit on both heel and forefoot.

Pete won 14 Grand Slams wearing them they are more then ok to play in. The nike air in the front and rear make them so comfortable and low to the ground. This and the breathe free 2 were my favorites shoes of all time.

Actually, the Air Oscillates came out in 1995, so Sampras had already won at least 5 Slams before he started wearing them. (Remember those Sergio Tacchini shoes he used to wear? Then he wore Wilson shoes with the ST logo drawn on them with a marker. LOL)

I never really liked the Air Oscillates, not enough cushioning and support. But I did like the Air Breathe Free 2's a lot. I also like the Lunar Ballistecs- much more comfortable and supportive than the Oscillates.

How would you compare cushions on forefoot area between Oscillates and Zoom breathe 2 ?

We should petition for Zoom breathe 2. :D

From a performance/fit/comfort standpoint, Breathe Free 2 is GOAT shoe IMO.

I like Oscillate because of its heritage and its iconic silouette.

I am still wearing Zoom breathe 2012 since I love it so much.
I was just curious how is Oscillates in terms of forefoot cushion, compared to Zoom breathe....

Not as cushioned or breathable. The Oscillate certainly isn't uncomfortable, just not as comfortable as the Breathe 2012.

Breathe free has better cushion but the Oscillate are lower to the ground which I like. Both should be Available all the time

    Thanks guys for your feedback.
Should note that Zoom breathe 2011-2012 are different from zoom breathe free although I loved all of them.
I think I also loved vapor series with Air zoom from early 2000's. (zoom vapor s2?)
I've got like last Zoom breathe 2012 from big bay last year.

I think I like shoes with Air Zoom, which Oscillate also has.
maybe we should petition for Zoom !

Is nike.com the only online retailer selling the safari version in the U.S.? I wonder if they will get more in?

I emailed TW the moment the word came out that these were starting to sell - would have rather given them the business - they don't know. My guess is no one knows yet - or at least the honest sites.

So if you want them - and we don't know how many Nike is making - get on nike.com so you don't miss out.

Thanks for all the feedback from those already playing in them.

Lots of sizes already sold out of the Safari. Glad I hopped on mine when I did and I hope they fit true to size as the guy told me on nike support.

This is a "quick strike" release, so there should be other retailers. They're available in Europe/UK if you don't mind the shipping. Some of these retailers will give VAT back to help the price. I'll find out which retailers and get back to you.

No kidding. Only sizes 7-9 remain. I debated it because I thought I could get them for 40% off through a friend. Friend couldn't come through, so I'm glad I pulled the trigger.

Got both. Now which one to play in and which one for casual. Thinking I'm going classic white colorway for play and safari for casual.

My apologies, I thought there were other "quick strike" retailers carrying the Safari. From what I gather, Nike.com is the only source for that colorway.

The white/navy/black is available in Italy and France. The Safaris are only in USA AFAIK.

I got the safari and the White ones from Nike.com USA last night (Glad I did it, since now the 9.5 for the Safaris is sold out).
For what I know they they are not available on the italian website of Nike (I saw them on some websites of sneakers boutiques from Germany and UK )

I showed my brother a picture of them after I ordered - he doesn't follow tennis. He thought it would be cool to put - red laces (that match the bottoms) in. Thoughts?

Think that would be a good look; I also think white laces would pop with the patter and the midsole.

I think I'll be going white. Mine just arrived. That bottom is closer to orange than red - would probably be really hard to match that shade in laces.

If I keep the black laces in then I think black socks will work.

Back to the title: do we know if the petition had anything to do with this gift from the Goddess of Victory?

If you go on the website Thesolesupplier.co.uk and type "oscillate" you can see the european shoes websites that are actually carrying them :)
