Well I thought it would be good to have another look at this one, which is on my most wanted list!

Well for years Wimbledon at least have kept one racket/shirt and sometimes shoes from the winners of the mens and womens singles, but they only display a few of them unfortunately.

    Pleasure.

Just received 4 LT301s, 1 unused with plastic on handle, 1 with missing dampner. The 3 used ones vary in condition. Grips are in bad condition and need changing.

Anyone know if the dampner can be removed (safely) as I'd like to move 1 to the frame with the missing 1 which is better condition.

WOW! I like the way you casually say you just received 4 LT301's, like they were delivered to your door without you expecting them:)

I don't think the dampners can be moved, even after taking off the grips etc, but i havn't actually tried.

I would advise keeping the unused one as a collectors item, and using the others. Very nice!

Didn't want to say anything until they def turned up.

Wonder if simply changing the butt caps would help.

I may keep 1 used one to hit with, my friend wants 1, and I'll sell the other 2.

Cool, well you'll enjoy playing with one of these, but please don't discuss the selling here, as it's against the rules. (I'm sure you won't, but just wanted to mention it anyway).

Great pictures of all you lucky people that have these racquets. Some fantastic playing racquets I'm sure.

Hi guys - I have been trying to fly through a few threads to find the answer to my question, but without look - should I have overseen it, my apologies fro asking again: Can somebody tell me the name of the Lacoste Steel racket, that was sold as the T2000 under Wilson? Can't even find that in my Kuebler book :-(
    Thanks for your help.

If I am not mistaken, the 1963 original was never given a model designation. It had always been known simply as "la raquette en acier" (the steel racquet). When you think about it, this thing really didn't 'need' a model name at the time, as it was impossible to confuse it with anything else available.

The same situation occurred when Prince marketed their first oversized frame (retroactively given the "Classic" designation in later years, when it was joined by younger siblings). Vendors simply listed it as the "Prince" when it was still one-of-a-kind (and the only offering from Prince), just like the "Cher", the "Modonna", and the other "Prince"... :)

Finally found myself a Lacoste racquet, not the famed LT301 (that thing is rarer than hen's teeth), but a brand new LT360, complete with case and spare grommet set:

Now onto the rest of the Lacoste sticks :(

Jimbo was very upset at some pricks who somehow broke into a storage area and stole many. Virginia, downsized considerably when moving to a smaller unit. Sadly, as collectors we can go through the exhilarating experience of building a collection of fine items and then lifestyle decisions, priority changes, fire (heaven forbid) and burglary can put a complete halt to the subject. I would hate to come home and find my frames gone knowing that I have only ever seen them once in 10 years!!!!

Amen to that. The good news is that the value of LaCoste rackets may have just appreciated big time, see link below:

    Hi everyone, new member here!

I was going through my old rackets from junior days which have been living in the loft for about 15 years. I have two LT301s and also an LT302. Great rackets and might look to get a couple more if anyone has any spare...

jimbo and a lot of the old UK folks slowly faded after our very popular thread was summarily removed by the mods. Some snitch reported it or so.

Few of the original gang are still active.

Luckily all 3 of my lacostes are in great condition. I played primarily with the 301 which was a really solid frame with great feel and low vibration. I think it was an 85 head.

The 302 felt and looked a little more modern with a different frame profile. Still constant beam around 20mm but bigger head of I think 95. I always thought it felt a bit more "pingy" and didn't have the muted feel of the 301 but then again I didn't experiment much with the strings. Maybe others will have a better comparison between the two frames. Now I just need a 255 for a nice set of narrow beam Equijets. Easier said than done!

Numerous infractions I suppose. Mainly for trading stuff. The UK peeps didn't have a trading thread at the time so just did deals amongst themselves without issue.
Someone (outside) squealed and the mods deleted the huge thread without warning. Sucker punch really, everything gone in an instant. Afterwards they created the UK/Europe classifieds.
That's why you now see the stickies warning about in thread trading all over the place.
