Playing better with bad racket

Hi there!

I'am new here and i've been searching for info in this web since i've re-joined tennis recently. So lets see if you guys can help me here.

As i've said, i'am playing tennis again since a long break (7 years). I'am starting from 0 even though i know the basics. When i left tennis, i was playing with a Wilson K Factor Kobra Team FX, so thats what i've been using (its quite old, but it has not really that much use). I had to get new strings for the racket, so meanwhile, i played with an old cheap dunlop racket (it can be 20 years old, i think it cost 20 dollars or so). When i got my wilson with its new strings and grip, i felt really uncomfortable playing, i didnt like the feeling i was getting from the wilson, so i decided to try that dusty dunlop again. Surprisingly, i'am playing quite better, and the feeling is good as well (even though i am using duct tape as a grip and the strings definitively need a change).

Some specs of the dunlop: 304 grams (5 more than the wilson), 98 square inches (wilson is 100), the frame is quite thin and the balance seems somewhere over 31.5cm.

I've been thinking i may be still too bad to benefit from the wilson, but its really not about how good or bad i am playing, i just feel something is not woking with the racket. Sticking to what is more comfortable makes more sense to me, but i really dont get how can i be playing better with the dunlop.

Is this making any sense to you guys?

I'll get a decent racket in the future, but by know, i don't know what to play with.

P.S.: sorry for my english.

So the old Dunlop is probably strung with the original tournament nylon but you’ve restrung the Wilson. What did you restring it with?
