they are all pretty much the same. I like rubberband because A) they dont cost a dime but the most important thing is that they come in different colors and they dont fall off and they are small.

No dampener is best, but if your racquet is light or your strings are singing I would choose a rubber band. (I did use the rubber band for some time, until I figured out my racquet and tension issues.)

It depends on what racket I'm using and what type of string I'm using. I usually use the Gamma Shockbuster for high-ping rackets and on regular rackets, I use either rubber bands or Wilson's Vibra-Fun Heart. The heart shaped one works better than the others, and it works surprisingly well in general. (Better than the other small logo-type ones anyways)

There is no option for: I like to hear the ping so I don't use a dampener.

the sampras dampeners is what i currently use but the babolat custom damp are awesome! they absorb so much without taking away the feel of the ball but they came off to easily for me

I think all dampeners are very similiar, the rubber band is better than most.

until today i had been using the babolat custom dampener with the clear plug-in thing on my babolat apd. on sat i tried using that one as well as 2 sampras O's on either side. today i said @#% it & put on 2 more- a smiley face on either side of the sampras O's. Yeah, thats right. i used 5 dampeners today and it felt great, and i'll continue to do that, to neutralize as much shock to my arm as possible.

the reason i'm using so many dampeners is b/c i just went back to poly after laying off of it and using kevlar hybrids at low tensions for spin instead due to tennis elbow. since my arm is stronger and better feeling and i've experienced the reality that NOTHING COMPARES TO POLYS IN TERMS OF POP, CONTROL ,AND SPIN, i plan to continue playing with 5 dampeners.

so for all you tennis elbow sufferers who love poly but shy away from it in full setups or altogether, try using multiple dampeners. i also think my new APD w/ cortex works as a kind of shock absorbing system. i was relieved and overjoyed at seeing once again what polys can do with the ball.

kirshbaum proline 2 (1.15mm) straight up at 53 on an apd cortex with, that's right, 5 dampeners-best hitting i've had in months!

Donnay Vibrazorb - too bad such dampeners are no longer available. The foam absorbed vibrations much better than rubber does. I'm looking for a reasonable replacement...
